i use a lot of etsy sellers for inspiration. a lot of things on there are simple to make and its cheaper to make in bulk then buy one at a time.
This is gorgeous! I just found a cool vintage mirror at the good will and may turn it into this idea!
I know that Ikea has a frame (it's oval shape) that can work with this. I recommend using the chalk markers (like on the boards at Starbucks) so that the lines are super crisp!
Is there any way that you want to sell that chalk board??
thanks!

Hi Bees! I came across this on Etsy and just couldn't stop looking at it...
then I saw the pricetag and shipping...

and it got me to thinking, you know this is extremely easy and inexpensive to make yourself. You don't even need to be crafty, just possess some spray painting skills and you're good to go!
Step 1: Go out to some yard sales or thrift stores and get yourself a nice, super elaborate baroque style picture frame. These are everywhere, I see them all the time at my local salvation army for less than $10.
Step 2: Get a can or two of cream (or whatever color your little heart desires) spray paint. Take care to notice if the frame is wood or plastic, if not wood you need to get the spray paint that will stick to that material. While you're there get a can or two of chalkboard spray paint. If it's not in your local hardware store they definitely have it in most craft stores, although it's more expensive.
Step 3: Go to Lowe's or somewhere and get some hard backer board/chip board. Something thick enough that it won't bend easily, more than 1/4" thick. Bat your lashes at the dude working the saw and have him cut your piece down to the size needed to fit in your nifty frame. Or if you're skilled like that cut it yourself.
Step 4: Paint the board with the chalkboard paint, and the frame with the color paint. Let dry, put the board in the frame, then show off your skills to anyone who comes over to visit! If your frame doesn't have those little bendy things that are used to secure pics and stuff in the frame get your butt to your local art or framing store and ask them for some, they may even help you put them in!
I did something very similar to this for my seating cards, and borrowed my sister's wood floor easel to display it at eye level. It worked out great and was more interested and eye catching than the typical cards on a table.
Happy crafting!
P.S. I mean no offense to the Etsy seller, just figured with an item of this size it's better to make it yourself.
