This makes the wedding very solemn.

We have one at our church but I don’t have a video clip but I’ll  try my best to get one plus the great thing about it is I don’t have to pay for it.Smile

I think a gospel choir could be amazing, but I think it depends on the choir. There are some AMAZING, move you to tears choirs out there, but some aren’t that great. I would hear them first before you decide.

On one episode of “Platinum Weddings” the ceremony ended with a full gospel choir singing “Oh Happy Day!”. It was beautiful and joyous. You might find a video if you search the internet for “Platinum Weddings Amanda & Ray”

My husband surprised me, and all our guests, when he had a gospel choir emerge from behind a curtain at the end of our ceremony and sing “All you need is love.” a la the movie Love Actually.

While I love it, it definitely has to mesh totally with the ceremony style and the venue and the theme.  Jmho.

If I had one, they’d sing “I wanna know what love is” by Foreigner and recently re-done by Mariah Carey.

I wanted this, but couldn’t find a good gospel choir to do it that I could afford.  I visited several churches, but none of the choirs inspired me.  Some are good, others are not.  Try posting on Craig’s list to see what you come up with.  All choirs are composed of individuals, and if you multiply all those people, someone is bound to see your posting!!

Or go to the local high schooland speak to the music director there. Some schools raise chorus funds by singing; but w/kids there is a high rate of ‘no show’ if the director isn’t invested in making sure they do show up.  Schools doing trips is a good way to make sure they show because the kids are raising $ for something.

You might also want to toss a barter out there.  Offer something you do well, or  have that they might need or want instead of paying.  Maybe the church hall needs to be painted and you are a painter and will come in and paint the place for them if they supply the materials.  Or you are a plumber.  Or you are good at computers can make a computerized mailing list for them with labels for a year [they supply the labels.  Don’t be afraid to ask.  You always have something and can do something someone else can’t.  Bst of Luck.  Keep us posted.
