I just got over a pretty bad case of poision ivy. I am extremely allergic, and it sounds like you are too. Make sure you don’t scratch it if you can manage, it will be extremely itchy. Also make sure to wash your clothes, bed linens, garden tools and anything you may have touched so that you don’t re-expose yourself. The best thing for itch is caladryl lotion, or calamine clear. Also use a hydrocortisone lotion, and that will help to heal it! Good luck. My rash only lasted a week and a half to 2 weeks.

@future mrs kirsch: my dad is super allergic and once got a bad dose of it…i want to say the dr had to give him a shot to clear it up but that it worked.

also take some benadryl to help with the allergy side and like mrs heath said the lotion is the best in the world

i also heart oatmeal baths to help with itching *process in blender until very fine so it doesnt clog the tub*

Honestly, with the wedding so close, I’d go to the doctor, explain that the wedding is very soon, and get some steroids.  Normally you don’t need steroids for poison ivy, but in this case I think it’s justified.

I’ve never had it but a few friends of mine swear by Ivy Dry.  I think they sell it at Walgreens but you may have to ask the pharmacist for it.  Hope it clears up before your big day!

I had poison ivy really bad last year and I strongly strongly recommend Tecnu.  It is a product that removes the oil left behind by the poison ivy that makes it spread.  It completely stopped the spread of it and came with a product that cleared it up in under 2 weeks.  You can find it at Walgreens, Rite Aid, probably Walmart, and other drug stores.  For a small bottle, it went a long way for $7 I believe.  Definately worth it!

i would suggest getting Aveno Oatmeal Bath Packets (from like rite aid).  The FI gets poison Ivy constantly (i use to think he just rolled around in bushes for fun)  he use to use it in the bath but he says it works better when you use it as a paste and let it dry on you.. (it makes a mess bc it flakes off) but within 2days of applying its usually dead…  but if you think its really bad you can go and get steriod shots which might clear it up pretty quickly.. GOOD LUCK!

Go to the doctor!!!  Some steroids will help in a day or two.  Over the counter will just prolong your agony.  Wash anything you think you touched, your clothes or shoes touched, etc.  And yes, the scars take a long time to heal so try not to itch.  I’ve had this several times and my fiance just got over a case.

I second what Georgia Bee said, make sure you wash everything but I hear that sometimes just washing will not remove all of the oil and could spread it back onto you.  I know that the tecnu will work for that also.  It says you can wash your clothes with it, put it on any tools you might have been using and it will remove all the oil that soap and water can leave behind.  Good luck!!

dont panic. go to the dr (or urgent care) and get the z pack. it will kill the poison ivy. at night wrap it in gauze and an ace bandage so it wont spread and let it air out dring the daytime. it will be ok. dont scratch or it will scar for sure. i had it on about 75% of my body right before my prom and it was gona and healed by the time the dance started
