Today, in the mail....we got an RSVP from a couple. It reads: Mr. & Mrs. Hendricks (will attend. One order for a fish meal, the other for a filet).
That's cool. But who are the Hendricks? I have double, triple and quadruple checked our list and there are certainly no Hendricks! I called Mom, and FMIL and neither of them know any Hendricks.
No, like a dumbass I did not number our RSVP cards. That would have solved this real fast.
What do I do? What are my options?! (any???)
FI said someone on our list who couldn't attend probably sold their RSVP card. (lol) Scary that this is not beyond the realm of possibility!!!!
yikes!!! I dont know but I hope you figure this out soon.
Is it clearly written Hendricks? Is there a possibility youre misreading it?
OH, VM. The fun never stops for you, huh? So NOBODY knows who these people are? That's really really weird. I don't even know what you do in that situation since you don't know their number or anything. I'm really sorry! Is there a return address they put on the RSVP? Can you work backwards from where they live and figure it out that way? Jeez. This is one I haven't heard before!
Maybe the Crazies invited them...
That is really weird! I have never heard of anything like this before. Maybe they are wedding crashers with good enough manners to RSVP to something they weren't invited to? ;)
But my only question is how would they have gotten ahold of one of your RSVP cards?
Yeah, I ran into the same thing. I actually got one back that just had "no" checked - no other information. Less of a problem, but it took us quite a while to figure out who it was!
Is there a postmark on the envelope that might give a clue as to where they are? (That's what finally clued us in, though then it was still a process of elimination waiting for other RSVPs from that city to come in.)
Maybe they bought it on eBay!
Have any of your female cousins, friends, relatives recently gotten married and changed their last name?
It very, very clearly says "Hendricks" Ughhhhhhhh........why me?!
VM...your posts crack me up. I am not laughing at you...but at all of the kooky situations you have been dealing with during your planning process. Did you maybe invite a single female who has since gotten married? Did they have a return address you can use to find out who they are? That's just plain weird.
How does that even happen? Are you the same bride whose guests were selling the +1's? If so, I really cannot wait to see how your wedding turns out. I am imagining paparazzi and helicopters overhead at this point.
I'm guessing no return address? The only way I can think of is waiting until after your deadline and calling those who are on the list but haven't responded. Maybe one will confess to selling their invitation.
Wow VM I am terrified of sending my invites now, especially after reading about your guests selling their +1s and now this! I wouldn't be surprised if someone sold their invite at this point...
The only other thing that I can think of is did someone fill in a fake name just as a joke to mess with you? I could see one of our crazy friends doing that..just make up a couple to stress you out?
VM- Where did you meet your friends?!
Your post keep making me laugh more and more!
I would guess just waiting until all the RSVP's come in and you will be able to find out who sold it!
Man I wish I was invited to your wedding and could sell my 1+ or whole RSVP!
I wanted to reply to each of you separately because you all made me laugh. But yes, I am feeling like...ugh, weird things always happen to me. I am like a werid-thing magnet!!!!! It's funny, but it's annoying, like...what do I do with you, Mr and Mrs Hendricks?
Is it possible someone got married and you didn't know about it? Say you sent it to lady friend and guest and now she's punishing you for not keeping up on her newly married name change?
This is so bizarre.
Oh my, this is like the setup to an episode of Seinfeld...only IRL! What a pain. What did the postmark say?
Ooohh, its a mystery! Its like waiting to see if the baby is a boy or girl. I wouldn't investigate-I would totally wait and see.
Thank god you've got a good sense of humor, girl. I'd be pulling my hair out by now!
My question is: If you don't figure out who these people are, Where are you going to seat them? I am envisioning a kids table with an eldery couple (the mysterious Hendricks) thrown in the middle.
I agree with the other bees. It will just have to be a process of elimination based on postmarks and other RSVP's.
Can I please come to your wedding??? As like a reporter for The Hive, or something?
(KIDDING!)
You seem to have some, ahem, interesting guests... is it possible that someone thought it would be funny to put a random name on the RSVP to confuse you?
@VirginiaMarie: I have to say, I do not envy your problems. Between the "Hendricks", guests paying to be +1s and Mrs. Crazy, I can't wait to see what comes up next. At least there's only one month left, right?
Good luck in your sleuthing . . .
Hahaha, you poor thing! I have no advice at all though, sorry :(
OMG, are you serious? I can't believe some of the crazy stuff that happens to you! Virginia Marie, you need to have your own reality show. I would totally watch it. :)
Oh WOW! That's terrible =( I really honestly hope you figure it out!
Your wedding sure must be a big event! Let us know if you figure it out...and this clued me in to something called "numbering" rsvp cards...something I would never, ever, have thought to do!
I'm thinking maybe your friends or family are playing a joke on you, even though it's more confusing to you than funny... maybe they figure going by a "normal" last name, it will be more confusing/funny.
I can't imagine anyone would actually hand over their RSVP card to anyone else, and surely no one would open an invitation and fill out a reply card when addressed to someone else.
Yes, this must be a joke. We are jokesters much like our friends and family..... It is actually a bit funny---as long as someone fesses up soon!
Goodness, this is too nutty.
I agree that I'd wait it out—one of your non-responders will HAVE to be the elusive Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks.
Oh my gosh woman. This is ridiculous! I don't even have any advice, your whole RSVP situation is beyond bizarre now!!!! You need to write a book when this is all done!
LMAO!!! What Will the hive do without your wedding story posts??? I can't wait for your Recaps!!! LOL!!! Maybe the Hendricks are the friends of the Crazys??
@rlsulli1598@verizon.net: HAHA
VM- We all need invites to your wedding! I think its going to be the best wedding of my lifetime!
That's crazy! I think it's probably a joke, too? If not, once you've gotten all other rsvp's back, through process of elimination you'll know who's missing? I don't know...very strange!
@mishelleez: I'm flattered.. but I think you mean "weirdest" rather than "best"!
Maybe its from these guys?
I suspect someone you invited did it as a joke.
When my FI got married (the first time, years ago) his brother was dating a girl at college for awhile. She had a long and hard to pronounce last name and she was from an area with a lot of amish, so FI kept joking with his brother that her last name was Miller (it wasn't). Somehow she ended up with that last name on her escort card (FI did not do that intentionally). As his brother was standing in the wedding she was to sit with the family, but she didn't have a place setting. Poor girl married his brother and still talks about that day when she met the family and had to spend all day with them while her guy was busy as best man and she didn't even have a place to sit!
She got FI back at her own wedding when she ran up to FI and hugged him, thinking he was her guy (they look alike and were both wearing tuxes) freaked FI out.
Maybe someone changed their name, or maybe it was a joke. I'm leaning towards a joke, though. This happened to me not once, not twice, but three times with our wedding - and it wasn't a joke. My in-laws added people to the guest list!
That is my "I'm so glad the wedding is over" face.
Holy cow.. first the selling of the cards, now this.. I wonder if someone moved, these people got the invite in the mail at the people's old address, and they decided to RSVP before they crashed :)
WOW thats so annoying!!! I feel so bad for you! I think you should be flattered though - it seems like your wedding will be off the charts!
i have no idea how that would have happened... unless it got delivered to the wrong address and people really like the invites and want to come?
