With my ex we celebrated one year. I plan to do the same with my new husband. With my ex, we lived in Tucson, AZ so we went up one of the mountains that overlooked the city and had a picnic dinner on the side of the mountian with candles and wine and watched the sun set and city light up. Then we went home and ate our cake top. YUM!
Ya, we kinda forgot our cake at the reception.... so no cake for us. But I think Im still going to do something...
I maybe wanted to book the same room we had for our honeymoon suite. But Im not sure!
I like the idea of doing soooomething! I love the idea of staying in the same room you stayed in on your wedding night .... but if that's too much perhaps even just going out to dinner and trying to find something similar to what you ate the night of the wedding, then when you get home or in the car make sure you listen to your first dance song (or dance to it if you'd like!) take a look through the photo albums and the video. All these things are pretty cheap, but just make sure you guys "check back in" on how happy you were on that day. (Not saying you werent happy, but there might be anniversaries in the future where you aren't, it might be a fun tradition to start!) Have fun!
I want to re-vacay the honeymoon..that's a great idea. My sis and bro in law every year do a re-honeymoon! They've been married 15 years!
Why don't you order a mini cake from your baker? I plan on ordering a mini version of ours every year. At least until we decide that the LAST thing we need is cake, lol! I lvoe the idea of getting away if you can. And if you can afford it! I know where I live there are a few wineries...a bottle or two of wine: $20, stay in the hotel: $100...not too shabby if we bring a "picnic", right? What's within driving distance?
the first anniversary gift is paper. i had a photographer take pictures of the wine bar where we met and got engaged. you could always get him tickets to something!
ejs4y8... I thought about that... Asking for a mini cake. Especially since we didnt have the chance to taste it really.... LOL
Bee, I didnt know Paper was the 1st year. I have to check maybe a concert...
You totally should. After all, I hear it doesn't taste so good when it's been frozen a whole year! I'd rather have a fresh one.
This bakery near me does the yummiest 4 layer chocolate cake with white, chocolate, prailine pecan, and espresso creams between them all. It's heaven

Hey hive!!! So our first year anniversary is coming up and I have no clue what to do. When I asked Mr.Flamingo if he wanted to do something particular he said NO and even mentionned there was no need to highlight our 1 year... that it was a waste of money and we could put that in our new home instead.
That statement did not offend me in any way, and I wouldnt mind not doing anything...but is it bad if we don't celebrate our one year? I dunno... I don't want to regret the choice of not doing anything.
Whats your take on it? Did you celebrate you one year? If so, what did you do.
