Hmmmm I don't have any experience with this being self employed, but if I were in your shoes, I would just continue moving forward with your position. You never know how long it will be until you conceive and in the mean time, I'm sure the boost in salary will help! You don't have to give up your dreams to say the least. At a bare minimum you'll be in your new position for nearly a year before you leave on mat leave, so I wouldn't feel badly about it.
Don't feel bad, you earned the promotion and you can't not accept it because you are planning something. You never know how long it will take to get pregnant and you never know how you will feel after you have your first child. You need to do what is best for you now AND in the long run, which is feeling good and doing well at your job so you and your family will be even better prepared for children!
Congrats on your promotion and good luck TTC!
You should go forward. I think that you may feel guilty because you are using a specific procedure (and therefore making a conscious decision) to make it happen. How about others in a similar position who get pregnant naturally? Regardless, you would be working for two months, then trying to get pregnant - You would work for several months before taking leave.
Do it. Feel proud. Feel happy :)

Ok, so I'm getting this big promotion - should start the new job in about two weeks or so; been waiting for this litterally for months.
BUT. Hubby and I are planning to start TTC in two months. Which, is not so bad, if you consider that we might not get pregnant right away and that I won't go on mat leave for another 9 months after.
The thing is, we plan to have two babies back to back, and for each of them, I get one year paid maternity leave as long as I go back to work for 16 weeks between the two.
After those two paid maternity leaves, I plan to use a 5-year non-paid family care leave to raise the children at home (it is allowed where I work). It is very important to us to raise our children at home until they get in school, and my employer facilitates that. When I get back from that, I won't be at the same job, but I will stay at the same level/salary.
So, that plan worked for me perfectly. But, putting this in action only 2 months after getting that new dream job I wanted... I feel bad for the manager who will have worked hard to get me, pulling this on her.
I don't want to wait longer for TTC, because hubs is a bit older than me and we are both sooo ready for this. I feel like I have to choose between career and family - that choice is easy for me - and that by doing so, I am not fair to the employer, but what else can I do?? I can't turn down that new awesome job that would bring over than $10K additional for 2 years??!
