He proposed today after he got in from work! I'll just start by saying that I knew I was going to get it this weekend, I just thought it would be tomorrow. Since he's an inspector on the pipeline he works crazy long hours and he finally had gotten a day off last week so we went and looked and picked out a stone and setting. After thinking about it for a day we decided that was the "one". So, since he couldn't get down to the jeweler to pay for it before they closed I had to take the check down and they had told me it would be in by Saturday (tomorrow). Well, S wanted me to call and see when it would be in since I was planning on going home this weekend (he wanted me to have it before I left) and they told me it would be delivered this morning. But, S didn't think he would be able to get it until tomorrow...or so he lead me to believe. I was outisde reading when he came home and he didn't really act any differently, just was smiling a lot. Then he told me that the he got the ring, then he said he was just joking but he'd get it tomorrow. He continuted to torment me for a few minutes and then said, well I have it but I can't give it to you because I don't know if you'll marry me. LOL He was kidding. So I said, well all you have to do is ask. So then he walked over to his truck and came back with a red box and by this time I was kind of freaking. He got down on one knee and told me that he loved me more than anything in the world and would I marry him? So, of course I said YES and was crying like an idiot, haha. Not exactly traditional since I knew it was coming but since he works ALL the time we did what we had to do. So, without further ado, here's my beauty!
Congratulations!!! The proposal sounds so sweet! I think he was probably nervous as can be and Um where are the pictures of the ring?!
Thank you! I think he was too! Sorry, I had to upload them again. The first time they were too big. Oops!
Oh Laura it's stunning! And usually I am only a fan of halo rings, other rings look well naked to me without it?! But as big as that rock is it needs nothing more than what is shown. (I actually gasped when I saw it!)
Do y'all know when you'll be getting married yet? BTW you can celebrate your three-month engagement anniversary on Christmas (how cool is that?!)
For some reason the stone looks a little weird in that second pic. It doesn't look like that all in person! I can even see the arrows. Weird...maybe it was taken at a bad angle or something? I'm going to have to practice some more, lol.
Lol! I think it is stunning in both pictures (he did good!) is that a full eternity band or did you go with a 3/4 eternity band?
Thank you Crebre80! My sister has a princess cut halo, but it just wasn't my thing. I like simple...and blingy haha! Oh my gosh! I didn't even realize Christmas would be our 3 month anniversary! Awesome!
I have no clue as to how I'm even going to begin planning! Ugh. Since he pipelines we're on the road constantly. And I don't even know how to choose a date because I don't know if he'll be working. Right now we're in Arkansas, then we'll go to Texas at the beginning of November. It's looking like we'll be there till mid-January. Then they get a break for a while and will start back up in February and work till the end of the year. So, you see my problem? I'm sure his boss would let him off, BUT, his g-pa is also an inspector. We would never have the wedding without him but I don't know if his boss can let them both off. Plus, I really want his boss and the other guys he works with to be able to come too, they're our family on the road. I thought about trying to plan it for January when I knew they would all be off, but that's just too short of time to get everything together...especially from out of state. And, I really just wanted to have some time to enjoy being engaged. What to do, what to do?
Thank you Eloping!
How about if you just relax and enjoy being engaged then you can begin planning more seriously at the beginning of the year? you could also maybe do a destination type wedding in texas in galveston or even cross the state border and come to louisiana and do something simple and quaint and fun and i'm sure the boys would love bourbon street (they all do lol!!) My M is a pipe fitter so I understand about the hours etc
It's 3/4. I didn't want the full because I was afraid I would knock the ones on bottom out. Gosh, now I can't wait to get the matching band! LOL
OMG congratulations, the ring is gorgeous and ur proposal story is soo cute.
yeah I'm in love with the 3/4 it gives the look without the hassle of losing a diamond (can you imagine?! omg the horror lol) my right hand ring is a 3/4 with some vintagey details on it and i absolutely adore that ring... lol... how long have you and your FIANCE been dating?
I think that's what I'm going to do...although I'll probably start looking for a dress soon...not too seriously, I just want to see what type looks good on my body. But, I think we might just try to wait and see what the end of next year is looking like and then go from there. I thought about a DW but I dunno. I guess I'll have to see what he thinks. We love Louisiana! He worked down there a lot before we met and then after we got together we had to go to Monroe and then later on we were in Lake Charles for a while. Good people and good food!
@ Lovehim Thank you! I was just reading your post! Hopefully you'll get yours soon!
I moved to LA about two years ago (originally from northern MS/TN) and when M and I met well I now have a reason not to leave <3.... Do you work outside of the home? You may be able to begin working on DIY projects as well, I think dress shopping would be really fun but I wouldn't suggest you purchasing anything until you have all the details ironed out (place, etc) or else you may buy an inappropriate dress for the occasion. A cinderella ballgown may look strange and HOT on a beach, but a destination type wedding dress may be inappropriate during the middle of the winter at a lodge... lol!
Oh my! I would die if I lost any! Thankfully setting has a lifetime warranty and the jeweler paid for the first year of insurance through Jewelers Mutual. Just hope we never have to use it!
We've been dating for 2 years and 4 months.
No, I don't work. But, lol, I'm not all that crafty so the DIY would have to be super simple! I really would like to have a wedding at home so all of our friends and family could attend. I was thinking at the country club in the next town over from ours. It was built in the 1920s and it has an amazing ballroom. The ceremony location is going to be difficult though. Neither one of us attend church and all of the churches around home are, how do I say this, ugly. LOL But seriously, they either have red carpeting, or green or blue pew cushions. Ick...I don't understand why they don't decorate churches in neutral colors. As if that's not bad enough very few have center aisles and that's the one thing I want. We might see if we could convert the dining area of the country club into the ceremony site. I dunno, these are all just early ideas.
What part of Arkansas are you in? Eureka Springs has a GORGEOUS hotel that reminds me of the book the Great Gatsby.. It's the Crescent Hotel. I always gasp when I see pictures of it. Trust me I wasn't very DIY savvy either until I saw the prices some people were trying to charge my clients!! Then I was like um HECK NO I can do that!! And I'm actually pretty good at it lol!
Wait when you say home do you mean Oklahoma? Or home where you are now? I think that the town over from yours would be an awesome place because most of your family and friends are there with you to celebrate and would appreciate that.
Right now we're in Searcy, which is about 45 miles north of Little Rock. I think in Feb we'll be close to Hot Springs, which I heard is pretty awesome. I had thought about getting married in Arkansas a while back....I had seen pics of a glass chapel. But I can't remember if it was in Hot Springs or Eureka Springs. But, yes home is Oklahoma.
I am from Memphis so I am vaguely familiar with the area. Ohhh a glass chapel would be stunning especially in the fall (which would give you enough time to plan!)
eta Here's the glass chapel. It is the Thorncrown Chapel and is stunning
WOW, congrats! Your ring is gorgeous, but then I'm a little biased bc we literally have the exact same ring (1 and a third carat round center stone on a 3/4 pave band)! Love it, great taste :) Enjoy!
It's gorgeous! I'm partial to that band, since it's similar to mine. ;) But the ring is stunning! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Your ring is totally beautiful!! It looks really big (in the best possible way)!
That is BEAUTIFUL! And what a sweet and funny proposal; sounds like he was a little nervous and alot excited! You *could* plan a wedding in that timeframe, for real. You just have to get moving! My boyfriend and I are going to have a relatively short engagement but we're just running with it and are going to be deadly with decisions (it helps that I have alot of the planning done already). Good luck!!! And best wishes!
Congrats! Your ring is beautiful and your proposal is so sweet!
very sweet! and what a GORGEOUS ring!!!!! i'm not usually a fan of so much "bling" but omg your ring is drop dead GORGEOUS!!!!
Congratulations!!! Your ring is gorgeous. Good luck with figuring everything out!
Congratulations! Your ring is quite beautiful. I usually dont like solitaire but I really really like this one! Do you know the carat weight of the center stone?! looks huge!
Congratulations!!!! Your ring is absolutely gorgeous. I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness!!!
I second ali-- I'd love to know the carat weight! I'm trying to get an idea of what mine will look like. Congratulations x 1000!
woooohoooo! Congrats and you have a stunning ring!!!
Aww, thank you so much everyone!! I just love the hive!!! For those wondering it's a 3/4 eternity band and the diamond is 1.33 carats. So total carat weight is 1.65. I'm not sure how wide the band is, but I would say no bigger than 2mm. I really wanted a thin band so the diamond would POP!
@Runrgurl10 OMG! It's almost exact done to the carat weight! Very good taste!
LOL
So beautiful ! And your proposal story is adorably sweet and genuine! Congratulations, I can't wait to hear what's to come, good luck with figuring everything out, it will all fall in to place!
