I think taking in the sides of the top will do the trick
Your dress is beautiful, but in my opinion, you should look at having the bustle done differently. I don't think it shows off the ruffles on the back of your dress as well as it possibly could.
My suggestion would be to ask you seamstress to do a multi-point bustle along the side of the dress picking each layer up so that the back ruffles resemble the front. Any additional fabric she should be able to do with an underbustle to get it off the floor.
If you love the bustle the way it is, keep it. I just wanted you to have my honest opinion.
Hmm...I was so concerned about the top, I really didn't concentrate on the bustle...
Now I feel like two things are wrong..what if it never gets to be the way I want it...
:(
you know you didn't ask about the bustle, but i think the "pointy" part is a bit high? also, i think your dress will look really nice with a french (under) bustle.
I wouldn't worry about the top. It doesn't look bad, and like mcnetn3 said, taking in the sides a bit at the top should make it look better.
And I don't think the current bustle looks bad, but I also have a ruffly dress and think there might be other options that show off the ruffles more. But I haven't had my fittings yet, so I think the bustle is just trial and error with your seamstress to see what you like best. Don't worry, you'll look great!
You look beautiful!! Can I ask what dress that is? It's stunning! I agree with the other ladies about the top.
You look gorgeous. The only thing that caught my eye was the bustle placement- too high, as others mentioned. But you look beautiful.
No matter what, you look beautiful.
I just wanted to offer my advice. My friend just got married and her dress had lots of ruffles on the bottom and I went with her for her alterations and the seamstress was a bustling god. I went through her books and saw how great the back of dresses can look when seamstresses do more than just a one point over bustle. Some dresses look best that way if there is special detailing along the edge of the train, but all the dresses with ruffles she bustled each layer a little bit to pick up the train layer by layer and keep the ruffled look. My friends dress had 18 points.
Your dress doesn't have as many ruffles as hers but I was thinking your bustle could be done the same kind of way... small underbustles layer by layer.

Wow that dress is gorgeous on you!! The little alteration you suggested would make it perfect but it looks great now.
Thanks...I'm really sad though bc i think it needs more mwork than i can afford..
Honestly, the top shouldn't cost that much and the bodice and length look perfect from what I can see.
A good/reasonable seamstress should charge you around $10/point (davids bridal and places like that charge crazy amounts and all a bustle point is is either a hook and eye or two pieces of fabric sewn in, it's crazy what places get away with just because it's a wedding dress).
I would just talk to your seamstress next time you go to see if she can offer a few alternatives for you to look at with the bustle. As a few other posters said, the point on the overbustle seems high, so a simple underbustle may be perfect for your dress and that would only be 1-3 points or so, not 18 like I showed you. You ultimately weight the options of cost and look, just you've probably had to do with every aspect of the wedding (like everybody does).
Whatever you end up doing, your dress really is BEAUTIFUL and you look AMAZING in it.
I like your dress. I haven't really seen it before which is refreshing.
I think you're absolutely right - the dress fits perfect except for the top. Once that is taken in a little it will be perfect. I agree that the bustle could be better - but it's a matter of opinion a little bit and I don't think it should cost that much.
Don't be sad! You have a gorgeous dress that is almost perfect on you and you have the time to make it absolutely perfect!
Thanks girls!
Okay - I called Pronovias - they are going to have the seamstress call me - Hopefully they will let me come in and show me different bustles that will work better for the dress!
Fingers crossed!
I am getting an inverted bustle. It is tucked under somehow. I think the dress otherwise looks great. The top is just one of thoese things that bug you but no one else would notice.

So I finally got my dress fitting - the dress when I bought it was way too big so this was the first time I tried it on and it fit!
My one complaint - the top looks too big - I mean I am somewhat chesty but it makes me look bigger than I am : (..They are going to take the straps back and then alter the sides a little and take some material away..i hope it turns out okay...
