Bees, I am beyond happy right now, I got my dream dress today.  So here's the deal - FI and I got engaged awhile back, and one day I dropped by Priscilla of Boston to look at a few dresses, including the Melissa Sweet Gigi.  When I put it on, it was total love.  I felt perfect in it, I didn't want to take it off, etc.  But I couldn't believe that I'd find a dress on my first trip, so I waited and didn't buy it that day.

Then, right after that, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.  It was a shock to everyone, no family history, regular mammograms, and they still missed it for so long.  For the first few weeks, the news got worse and worse.  We postponed the wedding, and everything got put on the back burner while surgery and treatment were starting up.  As time went on, the prognosis has improved greatly, treatment is going well, but I figured I'd wait until everything was ok and back to normal to take my mom out and show her the dress.

So…then at roughly 11pm last night, I'm trolling the Bee, as I am wont to do, and I learn that Priscilla of Boston is closing for good in 4 months and that they will not be taking ANY more dress orders.  I was crushed.  I thought I was out the chance to get the dress.  Then I remembered that the sample was actually long enough on me (I'm tall) and a little big on the sides, so maybe it could be taken in to fit?

Long story short, I dashed over to PoB when it opened today, and they still had the Gigi sample!  And it is in great shape!  And they said it'll be the simplest dress to alter!  AND IT WAS 40% OFF!!!!!!

Thanks for reading my ramblings.  Here she is!!!!!  I am going to keep her a secret until my mom is better and then bring her over as a surprise.  She has polka dots!

Aww thank you ladies!  I feel so great in the dress.  Here's another pic of my trying to show off the shoes - oddly enough the shoes I brought are the perfect height too.  The second pic shows the shoes better.

We are shoe twins and I didn't have to have my dress hemmed either!

@SydneyScribbler:  Thanks!  Yeah I loved the Dora too, I tried it on but with Gigi I just knew instantly.  The Dora is exquisite though!

@Jeannine @ Small Chic: Thanks, yes it is the Tysons salon!  I work in Tysons so it was super convenient, haha.

@Gilde37:  Shoe twins yay!  I completely want to wear them everywhere but I'm afraid they'll get dirty.

@profiterole:  Thanks so much.  I am also really sad PoB is closing.  They are one of the high-priced designers to be sure, but the quality is so fantastic, they're an American company, and they've been around so long.  It's sad.

@sulli, @hismm, @mousegirl, @misschickpea, @Kant:  Thanks for the well wishes for my mom :')  It's been a tough road, and she got very lucky.  They basically only found it because she insisted they do a biopsy (she was a nurse before retirement).  It's a rare form of breast cancer that usually does not present itself on the normal scans, which is definitely scary.  But now, post surgery and almost post chemo, it is looking like everything will be fine in the end.
