We went down to the courthouse today to get our marriage license! It was only $15 plus $5 for a certified copy. Our officiant then fills out our officlal marriage license (In Nebraska you also get a "keepsake copy"), and sends it in. Then the certified copy comes in the mail that we will use to change my name on my SS card and driver's license.

I don't know why, but even though I have a giant to do list, having the marriage license  just makes me feel so much more put together. One month and one day left until Oct 14th! AHHHH!  I almost started crying when she had us raise our right hands to testify that the information on the form was accurate. LOL! I'm gonna be a sobbing mess on the actual day.

your experience sounds like what we do in Ohio. However, i have gone through the process so many times that when my FI came in, it took probably 2 minutes to do. I work in Marriage Licensing so I do multiple licenses a day. A few weeks ago I did almost 30 of them in one day.

It does feel a lot better to have it out of the way. I know if nothing else goes right that day, I can still legally get married.

Got mine! Here they last for 3 months but cost NZ$122!!! I couldn't believe it. Then you have to pay another $30 after the wedding if you want a copy of the actual certificate which you need if you're changing your name anywhere. Le sigh!

Went to the county clerk at lunch today.. almost cried when they told me to address an envelope to 'Mr and Mrs' for the State of Florida to mail the Marriage Certificate in after the wedding. :-) Happy Moment.

Florida costed $94 without a marriage course. It took about an hour between waiting in line, reading this random last minute reading material, and waiting in line again.

The random reading material.. i kid you not... included "No person has a right to physically hit, push, shove, shake, or abuse another person, even if that person is his or her spouse." Good to know I'm not *his* property for shaking. Thanks Florida! Domestic abuse should never be made light of, but I thought the last minute reading material was odd. It also went through property law discussions, divorce, child support, etc. It was like a last minute.. "are you sure you want to do this?" document.

Dang Chicago!  Ours was $60!  And what got me was that it's a darn civil union license and costs the same as a marriage license!  We owe $15 for one copy and $4 for every copy after that!  Can you believe it?!  I was like, if you're going to charge us as much as a heterosexual couple, at least give us the same rights!  LOL!

My county in PA charges $82...if you apply at the local court house.  The actual county courthouse charges $80 but it's an hours drive away.  Needless to say we will just go to the courthouse in our town and fork over the extra $2.  And we will be doing this before work tomorrow, Friday.  Or else this will be the third time this week we will have overslept and put it off.

We got ours on Friday, it was such a simple process I was amazed! Not to mention we utitilized the TwoGether in Texas program, an 8 hr premarital counseling workshop, that waived the state fee so we only paid $11!

We won't be able to get ours until the day before our wedding since our ceremony is in Las Vegas and that's when we'll be arriving. I definitely plan to speed up the process by applying for it ahead of time online. I can't wait!

We are going Oct 7. In Colorado its only good for 30 days, so we didnt want to go too soon and have something go awry. This way we will still have it 2 weeks before the wedding. It costs $30 and we get it on the spot, so no waiting.   I cant wait to have that "OMGosh" feeling!

We went this morning and got ours. It was $56.00 here in Georgia. They give you a copy for your minister/judge to sign at the wedding then either you or he will mail it in and you can pick up your certified copy to take to change your name.

Was anyone else a little sad when they dropped a name?

It took me a mintue to decide whether to lose the middle or the last... I chose to lose the middle.

Waiting peroid makes me crazyface!! So does the fact that weather websites are really innacurate this far out, and yet, I still obsessively search for reports.

We picked up ours today!!!!!!!!!!! It was super easy and fast. Our courthouse is so cute. It was built in the 1800s, and I just loved being there. :)

finally got mine! (It took longer than I thought...I'm glad I didn't wait til the last minute...) I meant to get it 2 weeks ago, then I forgot to get FI's documents, so I had to get it last week, but I didn't realize that you don't actually GET it til 3 days after you apply for it! So I just got it 5 days before the wedding! phew!
