I wouldn’t tell everyone, but yeah I’d be annoyed and I’d certainly tell my sibling whose child did it. I think you should call to apologize.

@vish:  I’d just talk to him next time I see him and be like “so my mom told me that I accidentally put the wrong name on your envelope! I’m so sorry about that. I think as I was addressing them, I was reading my list and mixed your name with the person listed below you. My head has been all over the place planning this wedding. *lightheartidly* I do hope you can forgive me! Of course I want my uncle to share my special day with me :)”

Even if thats not true and you didn’t mix his name with the person below him, thats a valid excuse, rather than just saying you couldn’t think of his name. hahaha

@vish:  Don’t do a lighthearted apology – do a full on sincere apology. Sorry to be harsh, but getting someone’s name wrong is a pretty bad mistake. You should also be dealing with it yourself instead of getting your mum to.

Just phone ASAP and apologise profusely, and it should all be good.

I’d call him and explain that you were just having a brain fart, and then send him a new invitation with his name on it.

@paula1248:  Yeah, I guess my family is a little more laid back. If I called him Ronald instead of Larry he’d just laugh at me and give me a nuggie next time he saw me. haha, he wouldn’t care much at all. As long as he knows hes getting food, he’ll be Jane for all he cares. hahaha

EDIT: Nuggie? Nouggie? Nuggy? I don’t know how to spell it. You know what I’m talking about? Headlocking someone and rubbing their nuckles on the top of the other persons head? lol

i’d be annoyed. i’m always getting called by my cousin’s name (no one ever accidentally calls her by my name) and it really bothers me. after my wedding, as i was going thru/unpacking our gifts, i saw that one of aunts had written a little note on the gift receipt. she wrote my cousin’s name. i was really annoyed and vented to a few family members about it. like, she can’t remember who i am even on my wedding day? 🙁

my husband isn’t very good about remembering names or how to spell them, so unfortunately, a few people on his guest list got invitations with names wrong/mispelled. i was mortified when i realized it.

so yeah, i’d be annoyed, but i understand that mistakes happen. as long as you apologize, it’s all good.

@vish:  I think it’ll all be fine once you apologise. The fact that there is no one in the family with his name works in your favour, I think. It’s not that you mixed him up with an uncle you liked more or anyone like that, you were just in the middle of dozens of invitations and had a brain fade.
