Awesome WPV!!!!
My WPV is that after months of being happy, then unhappy, then happy again, then just plain in hate with my super steal of a purchase ($12) wedding dress, I decided that I should re-start the search and keep the other dress as a backup or the one I will use for my trash the dress session. Well, my FMIL has a good friend that is a seamstress and agreed to try to fix what I have or work on what I have or make something if I find a pattern of what I want... then we went to the fabric store to find fabric for flower girl's dresses (another DIY project and story) and then.
there it was... the perfect eyelet fabric... exactly what I had been looking for, for six long months. Plain, 7pt daisy pattern, no fru fru beading (my wedding isn't that kind of wedding). Almost exactly like the dress at priscilla of boston, but not silk (in cotton thank God!) and much much cheaper. Then, they only had one bolt, which I found out at the cutting table, that was being discontinued by the vendor and the store was not getting anymore. THANK GOD they had just over what I needed. So it was so meant to be. YAY!~
wow..lucky girl!
My story isn't as wonderful, but involves the perfect engagement and wedding dresses!
fiance took me to chinatown to go browsing. We ran into lady with the nice dress i was in dire need to get. I tried on the dress and as if the heaven knew and magically transform the dress for me! It fit me like a glove. Fiance loved it so much he paid for it right away..the price can't be beat. It will forever be my engagement dress (its a traditional vietnamese dress called "ao dai".
Then a few months ago, I was stalking the bees and came upon the dress of my dream. I didn't know the name of the designer and didn't really see it too well. All of a sudden, I found a dress I fell in love with on ebay and went out on a limb and had brother bid on it. Not knowing how it would look like, I ask brother to make the max bid, win or lose. My bid was the second, so we lost. The dress god must've heard my frustration, as next day came and seller emailed brother asking if we were still interested as highest bidder can't pay. Score! I ended up getting the dress for the price I bid. It gets better...as the DRESS is THE EXACT DRESS I obsessed over months ago! The dress is brand new, tag still on and fit me like it was made for me. Brother ended up buying it for me..and the price is 1/4 of the price of the sample now on sale at local bridal shop! =) I looked at more dresses to see if the love-at-first sight effect had worn off...and of all the dresses there, not even the $6k one made me change my mind about mine. Me and my gown were destined to be together. =)
wow $150 dj...I need one of those..hehe. hopefully fiancee will contact is best friend's roomie (who is a dj) and he'll do for a reasonable price. i'd just for joy if it was under $500.
Thrilled the FH found a DJ for $350 - helps balance out the over budgetness of the photographer.
$99 worth of ribbon at the The Ribbon Outlet - is still making my day months later. I have soooo much ribbon. Plenty for the crazy centerpieces I'm doing!
These are really great!! Makes me feel happy to share in the excitement.
1) I got a GREAT deal on my dress, which I absolutely love
2) Thanks to the WeddingBee & the knot, I'm finding great & cheap vendors, like my seamstress and DOC.
3) My sister is offering to help take care of the music! Which may include both a DJ and a band.
4) I found some perfect candy buffet jars on Kohls.com yesterday
Hey bearbride! Do share- PM me the link to those jars- please!~!!!
So happy for all of you guys!!!!
babagrlshell- i can not believe you found any kind of dress for $12! thats NSANE!
I found my wedding dress this weekend...the only dress that made me cry when I put it on...only to find it was $700 out of my price range...my mom picked up the extra cost! I'm so Blessed!!!
I also booked my videographer and saved $300 on my package due to booking early!
I'm so happy!!!!
