No worries! I hate getting pulled over and I’ve always felt awful afterward. You are lucky he let you off with no ticket for not having your license! If it happens again before tomorrow (unlikely!) tell them you have it scheduled to get fixed later in the afternoon. I think they give you a few days time to get it fixed, anyway.

@Girasole:  I got a speeding ticket about 2 years ago and I cried when I got home! I feel like it brings you back to when you “get in trouble” when you are young or in school! Awful feeling! It’ll be okay, though!

Don’t worry! It’s always unnerving to get pulled over. I had a little lead foot when I first got my license and got two tickets in a year (I went to a class and one was removed from my record) and after that, I’ve only gotten a warning for speeding when I was going down a steep hill. It’s still like “ahh!” though. Try not to let it get to you, though. You got a warning, no citation!

I had a headlight out on my old Audi that I couldn’t get in for a couple of days to have fixed (and a headlight on an Audi is not a DIY project, LOL… ditto on VWs) but I ran around at night those days with my fog lights on. The way my fog lights worked, it lit up my headlights and not like brights. It wasn’t perfect, but I passed police and didn’t have any issues. Depending on your car and your fog lights, you might want to see if that could work? If not, keep your evening driving to a minimum or see if you could catch a ride with someone even. If you do have to drive, be on your best driving behavior and if you happen to get pulled over, tell the officer you’re aware of the issue and you spoke to another officer about it and you have an appointment tomorrow evening to get it repaired.

Wow! That was a REALLY nice officer!

I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just avoid night driving until you get it fixed!

@Girasole:  Oh a break light is much easier to get by with! If it’s the window rear brake light, it’ll probably go without an issue, if it’s a taillight break light, just keep your eyes peeled for police and unless you have to (like at a light/stop sign or a car stopped in front of you obviously hahaha) try to avoid the brakes while going by them, lmao. 3 miles isn’t bad, though. No holidays where DUI patrols would be out, either.

You’ll make it!

They will give you some time to get it fixed. My headlight would go out if I hit a bump and I got stopped. I think he was new or something because he kept shining the flashlight in my eyes and asking if I had my corrective lenses in because “it is against the law to drive without your corrective lenses, and I would have to fine you $25.” I just stared in disbelief because one, he stopped me for my headlight, and two, uhh I would be blind without my contacts!!!

He never ticketed me. He just told me to get it fixed.

I’m sure you will be fine! I’ve been pulled over more times than I can count… mostly for tinted windows and speeding and once because I was driving my ex’s car and his license plate was flagged. Honestly, my radar dectector was one of the best $500 I’ve spent!

I’m sure you will be fine with your brake light out for a few more days until you can get it fixed. IF you get pulled over again, just tell the offier that you are going to do it ASAP and it was only just brought to your attention. You will be fine!

Ugh. My car was hit by a van (his fault) about a week after my wallet was stolen. The cops were like, “Oh, actually, we’re not supposed to let you drive away from the accident if you don’t have ID.” Fortunately I had my school ID  and they had mercy on me.

I’ve only been pulled over twice. The second time I got a ticket and I bawled like a baby that morning when I was going to take a mock exam. I remember picking my dad up from work that day and being near tears when I fessed up to what happened. I was so scared he was gonna be upset and he was pretty much like, “Oh. Ok. Find out when you have to pay it and how much it is and we’ll take care of it. No problem.” Then I nearly cried again from relief!
