Eesh… it’s moments like this that I’m thankful I didn’t buy flowers except for the bridal party & the parents.

Wowza! Flowers ARE expensive. My sister got married last year and she only didn’t do any flower decorations, and it wasn’t even missed. She did candles and lights for an outdoor night wedding.

I would definitely DIY flowers for the bridal party. I plan on DIYing centerpieces too, that is always an option.

We paid a little more than that for NJ but we got more. Are your center pieces high or low?

I only met with one and he gave us exactly what we wanted and more in our price range.

We got:

15 high centerpieces with tropical flowers (I really wanted birds of paradise!)

6 bridesmaid bouquets

my bouquets

the boutonnieres for groom + 7 other men

5 corsages

sweetheart table

ceremony decorations

all less than $3,000 and no delivery fees.

I definitely agree on getting more estimates. Are you in NYC? If so, cross the bridge/tunnel and check out florists in NJ or the outer boroughs.

@SimonSaysBride:  The orchids in the tall escort card centerpiece may be driving up some of the prices, also, what types of flowers are you requesting? It also be that if they’re located in Manhattan they have to charge more because rent is higher

@SimonSaysBride:  I highly recommend going DIY for flowers if you’re on a budget.  It was seriously one of the easiest DIYs I did.  I spent a total of $320 for 5 bouquets (bridal, 2 BM, 2 nosegays, toss), aisle decor, altar arrangements and petals for my table.

I would personally never in a million years DIY the flowers for bouquets, coursages, or boutiners. Those are the flowers that are in most of your pictures. I think that price is good for how much you are wanting, including orchids, and for being New York. Also, I would highly suggest transporting your ceremony decor to the reception. It seems like such a waste to get ceremony flowers and only use them there for half and hour.

@SimonSaysBride:  Wow, you made out like a BANDIT compared to me.  Every quote I got was $5000.  We ended up making it happen for around $3000.  Still more than I had wanted to spend, but I got the flowers I wanted.
