This sounds great! Think of all the toppings you could have. (Mmmm... mushrooms, red onion, and so many types of CHEESE!)
Aw, thanks for all of your comments! Your encouragement is definitely making me more excited about the whole idea!
I like the towelette thought. I wouldn't mind if they weren't personalized... maybe I can find a pretty little container for each table like the ones in restaurants that hold sugar packets.
I totally am stealing your gourmet burger bar idea for my wedding ... it doesn't totally fit with our vintage vibe, but we can make it work!
Sound DELISH!!! I'd LOVE that over traditional wedding food! Very creative!
So fun and completely unexpected! The fact that it will include chicken AND vegetarian options makes me love it even more!!!
I think that's an amazingly great idea! My man would be so excited if he was a guest at your wedding! However, I think he'd attempt to eat at least two different burgers to try all the toppings! I think it's a very fun idea that would go over very well with your guests.
I think the bar will be awesome! We met with the caterer yesterday and are doing this too. It definitely creates the light, fun environment we are going for!!!

We've been thinking about doing a picnic package that our caterer has. My mom's not crazy about it b/c it's "not fancy & my dress is" but I'd rather eat what we like. We're really not fancy people. The only thing we're not sure of is if coffee is included with that package. My mom doesn't want to pay more than she has to for anything. Ugh!
I really hope for a picnic though!
Yum! Yum! Yum! I am drooling now!
I'm thinking you just made me want some burgers! Go for it!
If there were veggie burgers I would be ALLLLLL over it! I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like mushrooms. How come mushrooms are ALWAYS the go to vegetarian option? It's baffling.
Off my soap box..
I LOVE the uniqueness of burger bar at a wedding ;)
Fried tobacco onions, sweet potato fries, boursin. Yum. Yum. Yum.
I think it is a great idea! However, I was talking about non-traditional meals with people I work with. In my office there are four receptionist type people, including myself. It is a student job so I am the youngest there. I am planning a wedding, my boss is planning hers and another lady's son is getting married too, so we talk about weddings a lot! They all tend to think ideas like these are strange. It surprised me, as many of them are quite modern, etc. One of them went to a wedding that did a gourmet mashed potato bar. I thought that would be delicious, but they all thought it was horrible that they weren't served a full meal. They also griped about being served sheet cake from a cake in the back. These people generally aren't too whiny so I was surprised and it gave me insight into how many of my guests may feel.
I guess the point is that we might all like cool, quirky ideas like this but they may make some of your guests uncomfortable. Even guests you may assume would be cool with it. At the end of the day, it is your wedding and you should do what makes you the happiest. You know your crowd the best and you just have to weigh the pros and cons yourself!
oh my god. I would LOVE to go to a wedding with a MYO burger bar! That would be so fantastic!
I love a good burger with fun toppings. Avocado slices or guacamole on a burger are delicious!
I love it, so if it goes along with your personalities and the style/formality of your wedding go for it!!!
Fanatic888 - You were reading my mind, I love avocados and guacamole. I'd be all over that burger bar, YUM!
I say as long as the one goes with the rest of your wedding, sure! You know your guests will like it. (what about vegetarians, though?)
I love this idea! My boyfriend would actually flip for it, as burgers are his #1 food. We can go to the nicest restaurant ever and he will order a burger! :) I think options like burgers or ribs are great because almost everyone loves them!
that is a kick butt idea! and I LOVE the ketchup bottle idea! Maybe table numbers on the bottle??
