I'm looking to buy good quality chocolate to box up for favors. I checked out a local chocolate store near me and they were selling truffles for $1 each. No discount for buying in bulk. Is there anyplace online where I could buy high quality chocolate for less? Or, alternatively, any stores in the Boston area that you would recommend? Thanks!
We are doing locally made chocolates for favors - turtles and almond toffee - and are paying $4.50 per guest (for about a 6 oz box, including custom printing and assembly/packing of the boxes). I tend to think that you get what you pay for. However, truffles tend to be at the upper end of the price spectrum. Maybe if you look at some other type of chocolates you can bring the price down? What were you thinking of spending per guest?
For my wedding I used Green & Black chocolates- but they were small and cheap: http://realgreenweddings.blogspot.com/2008/03/edible-elements.html
However - you can find a list of really nice organic chocolates for less than your truffles at http://www.thegreenbrideguide.com/lookbook/lookbook/favors/chocolate.html
If you like Godiva chocolate, you might try calling the Pepperidge Farm Thrift store in Cambridge (617-661-6361, 87 Blanchard Rd,Cambridge, MA 02138) to see if they carry Godiva, and what they have in stock. I'm not familiar with this location, but most other PF stores carry deeply dicounted Godiva.
