@kittylove13:  I am sorry to hear that! What branch is he in and what bank is he with? USAA fronts the money during shutdowns when pay is taken. Also everyone of the military members at our wedding are applying for leave and most have recieved notice that they will be allowed to attend. Maybe it is the branch or the base that would effect his chances of getting leave?

Fingers crossed that everything works out for you. I know how you feel. We’re supposed to be putting deposits down this week and next (we’re paying for the wedding) and FI is currently furloughed. I’m terrified that we’re going to lose our venue and photographer because the ‘complimentary hold’ they placed on our date runs out next week and I don’t anticipate him being back at work/getting paid on time.

@kittylove13: hugs!  i’m getting married the day before you and effected by the shutdown too.

for us, leave is just cancelled.  right now, if my wedding was this weekend, i would go on my honeymoon as scheduled and if while i was away the government reopened, my scheduled leave would just resume.

i don’t know if the miliary leave is different but they did sign a bill that all military personell will get paid during this time.

right now, i’m worried about not having a paycheck.

@kittylove13:  *HUGS* Rank could be the reason because I know that all of our military guests are still low in rank highest being Senior Airman soo I don’t know much from experience if rank would cause this. I am also not sure what Navy Federal would do for its clients but hope that they do something for their members like USAA does….I hope everything works out dear!

I know our one marine can’t make it because the marines are crazy strict with that stuff but I am curious if the Navy is similar?

@kittylove13:  Active military is getting paid without holdups.  Congress and POTUS already signed that.  So the pay shouldn’t be an issue like it is for the rest of us in government service.  As for the leave, it’s being handled office-to-office, section-to-section, so he should talk to his supervisor to see if there’s any way to work something out.  It would be unpaid (since he can’t use annual leave), but he’d still be at your wedding…
