I bought my first dress from David's Bridal, but I'm now selling it. David's Bridal was actually a really good experience and my saleswoman was really awesome. She was always there right away with a new dress and because I brought in pictures of what I wanted she was very good at finding the exact dress and similar ones. The dress came in 3 months early in perfect condition, no problems at all! I just didn't love the dress anymore especially after I had some cosmetic surgery. So when I began hunting for my second dress I went to CC's Boutique in St. Pete because it's close to work. Well, I didn't find them to be very helpful to be honest. The woman helping me was kind of flaky and even kept me waiting outside in the heat for 5 minutes while she took a personal phone call. The had a good range of dresses and let me look on my own though, so I had a friend help me out instead of the saleswomen. Then I went to Olga's Bridal in Tampa and Olga herself helped me! I went when they opened on a saturday and there wasn't anyone else in the store. They had the exact dress I was looking for and their prices were pretty good. I ended up buying the dress online from another bridal shop because their price was $170 less than what Olga's wanted. The experience there was great. So I would recommend David's Bridal (if only to get an idea of what style you want since they have just about every kind of dress) and Olga's Bridal! Good luck!!
That sounds like a great idea...I have lots of dresses picked out from magazines that I like, but I have never tried anything on so I don't know what cut works best for me yet. I was thinking of going to David's Bridal to try dresses on to see the cuts that fit my body best and then possibly going elsewhere if I don't find anything I like there. I'm glad to hear you had a good experience there!!! I was thinking about Olga's too.
Thanks so much for your input.. very very helpful!!
I ended up going to CC's and I found the PERFECT dress! I didn't have all that great of an experience at David's (Clearwater). The first SA I got basically ignored me for a solid 45 minutes and my friends ran around the store gathering dresses for me. When I finally complained to someone about her they gave me TWO new SAs and things went MUCH better. However, I wasn't wowed by any of their gowns (on me--I loved a lot of their gowns but they didn't look right on me) and continued onto CC's. I'm so glad I did, I can't imagine finding a more perfect dress for me!!!
I had the same experience at Clearwater's DB - glad you went to CC's! I went there to look for bridesmaid dresses and they were SO helpful. My best friend got her gown there too - I was just afraid they would be way out of my price range! I'm glad you found one that works for you!
august15bride (you're getting married on my bday!) I'm so glad I went to CC's too. I'm going shopping there in a couple weekends with my mother to look at mother of the bride outfits! I can't wait to see what they have for her. I'd like to give them more business because I am so pleased with their service and selection. I'm ecstatic I found an affordable dress too--I was worried they were all $1K+ and I wanted to keep it under $1K. We got my dress at their side store--Off 4th I think?
I'm interested to learn that you had a similar experience at DB! I will never go back there, and they could have gotten a lot of business from me (bridal gown, bridesmaids, mother of bride, mother of groom, grandmothers!) I have also warned a lot of my local friends against them. I was just appalled at how I was treated--gown shopping should be exciting and happy and I was completely discarded by my first sales associate!
I actually just bought my dress tonight! I bought it at Formalities Bridal in Lakewood Ranch. The owner, Lisa, is AMAZING. Seriously. I have been one of the neediest brides ever, and she has been so good to me! I HIGHLY recommend her shop!

Tampa area brides.. where did you get your wedding dress? I am starting the search in the next few months (wedding isn't until October 2009) and am trying to find good places to go. I'm not looking for an expensive couture wedding dress, but just a middle-of-the road priced one (David's Bridal prices would be ideal).
Thanks girls!
