- Wedding: July 2013
I have been wondering whether I should invite my mentor to my wedding. I won’t graduate until December (hopefuly), and the wedding is in July. I will be working with my mentor to hopefully complete the rest of my research this summer, so he will know about the wedding and I will have to take some time off for it.
A little background on the program since I know some are different then others. Its a thesis based masters program, so once accepted into the program you have to find a professor to mentor you and that is who you do your two years of research with for your thesis. So basically you work closely with this person for a couple years. My mentor is very nice, however we don’t discuss personal matters or anything like that, so I can’t decide whether I should invite him and his wife to the wedding, since it is obviously a very personal day.
Another grad student is getting married this summer and won’t be inviting his mentor (another professor), but says its only cause its a destination wedding.
Anyone in a similar situation, or has been? What did you do?
