    HI!!

I am in the begining stages of planning my destination wedding!!  So exciting but it seems so stressful.  I have been looking into Grand Cayman and St. John.  Has anyone had there wedding at either of these places or been to a wedding there?

    HI!

Congratulations on your engagement! Planning a destination wedding can be so much fun and stress, but the hard work pays off in the end! I assisted a friend as well, and we did her wedding at the Grand Cayman, which is a very beautiful place by the way   The ceremony site was "The Grand Old House" which gave it that seaside wedding look, and the reception was there as well but we ended up having a tent set up for guests to enjoy the reception inside or outside if desired. We didn't have to do too much decorating because the place itself was just phenomenal!

Never been to St. John yet but I heard that the place is just as beautiful as well. Which ever you choose I am sure that you're wedding will be just as fabulous! Hope I gave you some small tips as far as location if you decide to go with the Grand Cayman.

    Happy Planning!

Thank you SO much for your input!

Was The Grand Old House shut down for the nigth for the wedding?  I found a private house on the beach where I can have my wedding as well.  It looks beautiful, but I dont know if it will cost more b/c they wiill have to bring everything in (tents, plates, knives, forks, glasses, tables, chair...etc.).  Did your friend work with a wedding planner down there?  Was the food good at The Grand Old House? I was there many many years ago and I remember it being wonderful.

I live in NY and have looked at places here as well, they are just so expensive.

Your welcome! Glad I could be of assistance!

Yes we had it shut down for the night of the wedding, which made it even better. To answer regarding your comment about the private beach, it may be a little more since they will have to bring in other venues that supples the tents, plates, and etc...unless its part of the package that they have to offer you. My friend worked with me since she knew that was part of my profession, but we talked with a planner out there to touch bases and make sure that we were on the right track since we are from Pennsylvania. It actually worked out nice and the two of us as planners were able to work and exchange information/ideas whenever we needed to ensure that the wedding day went smoothly. I thought the food was amazing, everyone loved it! So we had no problems.

Yes I can understand, NY being so expensive at times to have a wedding. I am there from time to time locating venues and it can be a bit costly. But have found some places that are reasonable, but then it all depends on what the bride's budget is. Hope I have answered your questions

Grand Cayman is a great place for a destination wedding, with very professional vendors. To find out the process for getting married check out Trip Advisor's Inside pages for Grand Cayman. I can't recommend a planner too highly, this is not optional for a destination wedding if you want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

I vote for the Cayman Islands!  That's where we had our wedding and it was incredible!  I've been to St. John and I have a friend who got married there.  Traveling to Grand Cayman is MUCH easier--it's much closer to the continental US.  There also are more direct flights because of the banking industry there.  You can't fly in to St. John, you fly to St. Thomas and take a ferry.  It is a much longer journey overall.

We were also married at the Grand Old House (details forthcoming in my recaps!) and I definitely recommend it.  If you want to do a private affair, Celebrations or Lions Productions can set things up.  We used Celebrations for our flowers, decor, and wedding planning and were very happy with the results.  Feel free to PM me with any questions!
