Hi there! So I’m trying to brainstorm rehearsal dinner venues. We are getting married in May 2015 in Lowell, MI but nearly everyone who will be attending the rehearsal dinner lives in Grand Rapids. We are looking for something relatively inexpensive and not too terribly fancy, no grand banquet halls or fine dining restaurants. I expect we’ll have about 30 in attendance. Being downtown kind of stresses both me and my fiance out (weird I know, just a quirk of ours), but if the perfect venue was downtown we would deal with it. Our favorite foods are good ol’ Amercian. Burgers, steak, seafood. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

christina-joy: Hey there! I’m getting married in May 2016 in Downtown Grand Rapids 🙂
My suggestion would be to look into Sky 1 and/or Sky 2 dining rooms on the 28th floor of the Amway Grand Plaza hotel. It has stunning views, is relatively inexpensive (depending on what you choose to serve), and you could pick the food you choose to serve.
I have no idea about your price point so bear with me:
– Bistro Bella Vita
– Mangiamo (not QUITE downtown, but good none the less)
– The Reserve (if you have some wine-lovers)
– Bulls Head Tavern
– Check out the B.O.B.

I think Terra in Eastown would be fun and relatively inexpensive! We thought about having ours there, but ended up ordering a bunch of pizzas from Harmony Brewing Co. and Rose’s for a backyard dinner. Other thoughts, besides what PP already posted…
– Osteria Rossa (downtown), might be pricey tho
– Republics (downtown)
– Charley’s Crab
– Winchester or the Green Well (HH)? The seating isn’t default-ideal for large parties, but I imagine they could rearrange.
– Have you thought about doing a brewery, like Founders or Brewery Vivant?

- Wedding: April 2014 - Italian Villa
I second the idea for the BOB.

christina-joy: Both myself and a good friend had our rehearsal on the second floor of J. Gardella’s and it was perfect. Nice, but still casual. And it was under $1000 including beer/wine.
