(Closed) grandmother's birthstone in my wedding ring?

@lauren1985:  People regularly wear heirloom pieces specifically because of the connection to their pasts. Just because you aren’t inheriting this ring from somebody does not mean that you can’t or shouldn’t include important people in the design of the ring. Your grandmother is clearly important to you. And it is equally clear that, to you, there is an association between your engagement / marriage and your grandmother. Whether because she helped shape you into the woman you are now who is strong and beautiful and someone who is ready to share her life with someone, or because she had a great marriage that you would like to honor and emulate, it doesn’t matter. It is perfectly okay to include her birthstone in your engagement ring.
