I’m feeling happy for the first time in a while just because of stress and stuff, but finally something happened that I didn’t think would make me very happy. I’ve been with my Boyfriend or Best Friend for 5 years next month (yay anniversary!) and his entire family absolutely loves me. They’re all fantastic so I feel very grateful for that. The only person in his family to not show any emotion to me was his grandfather. He’s 90-something, very animated, loves my Boyfriend or Best Friend, but for some reason never really clicked with me. I didn’t mind so much just because I don’t see them often, and he’s the only person in the family to act that way with me.
Anywho, this weekend was a big family bbq, and Boyfriend or Best Friend and I entertained everyone with our traditional Lebanese dancing. We get pretty into it and everyone loved it. When grandpa was leaving, he pushed my Boyfriend or Best Friend aside to specifically say bye to me. He’s like “thank you so much for entertaining us I loved it!” I felt so special!
I feel like whenever he’s seen me I’ve never had the chance to really show my personality, so now he saw that I’m crazy fun and I’m not just some girl that goes to school and is boring. He loves to have fun and be loud, so seeing me be the same way I think made him feel that I have some guts and personality, which I totally do lol.
Just wanted to share my happiness! If you have stories about family acceptance I would love to hear them as well 😀
