Ok, I think alot of us have these. These panties are not cute (faded, old, stretched, baggy maybe even hole-y), but they are very comfy... How many of us will throw away the granny panties when we move in with our Hubs (or SO)?
im so not ashamed haha. fi knows what my granny panties look like :)
If you like the styles with more coverage, go with cute boy short cuts or the cheeky/hipster cuts. ANYTHING but the grannies :)
I only wear them when I have my period. I find them really uncomfortable! LOL!
@bakerella: Yeah, that's the one reason I would keep the kinda ratty looking ones. ;)
I don't own a single pair of granny panties (in the traditional sense). The closest I have are full coverage VS Pink ones that I wear during that time of the month:

I say trash them and go buy some nice comfy full coverage undies minus the holes :)
I'll totally admit that I have a few thongs that are my most comfortable and I've worn them so much they have a couple holes in them. The funniest was when I was wearing one that has a hole at the back near the elastic and FI and I were fooling around and he says "Oooh sexy, this one has a keyhole...." and I burst out laughing, no those are just old undies! LOL! He was totally mortified!!! But they're SOOOO comfy! Sadly I think those have gone in the garbage, but it makes me laugh whenever I think about it. He's not allowed to make fun, his ratty boxers are no prize either!
I don't own granny panties and haven't for years. I have a lot of "blah" undies, like the seamless, laser stretch nude colored ones for work so I don't have to wear a thong under my khakis or dress pants. But i like cute underwear in general. I only keep generic bikini cotton ones around for my period every few months. And ain't nobody seeing those but me =]
Another ditto for period panties!! But when I moved in with SO, I didn't hang on to the completley holey nasty ones, lol. I just got cheap two-dollar ones from Forever 21 that got the job done without horrifying the poor guy. :)
I was contemplating the period panty option on the poll, now I think I should have.
This post made me lol!!! --Anybody ever see Paula Poundstone do her stand-up routine on the "granny" panties??
He's going to have plenty of nasty little habits and whatnot that you will have to deal with! I vote that you keep 'em if you want to; he's not going to care, and they will be great to have when your monthly visitor comes!
I don't really have any granny panties...they're not that practical for me since I always wear dress pants or fitted skirts. 95% of the time I'm wearing the VS lace thongs (soo comfy) although I do have a few pairs of men's-style hanes briefs that I wear around our house.
yeaH DITCH THE GRANNYS lol there are other ways and if they r worn and ratty ,, they arent that expensive try on a few diff styles that would work for that time of month :p
I'm LMBO. I just went shopping with DH for some replacement Granny Panties/Period Panties. I was frustrated because all the sets I could find were a mix of pastels and whites. What the hell happened to my all black bikini bottoms? I would like these to last for more than one wearing afterall, LOL.
I figure my undies will NEVER be as worn as DH's. He's made a "lifetime commitment" to his underwear. (Yes, that is a direct quote.) Until they rip in half in the washer, he's wearing them. So as long as I'm replacing mine sooner than once every five years, I'm good, LOL!
Yup, I call them "period panties" for obvious reasons :) My husband sees me in all sorts of unattractive home clothes and still finds me desirable. I would find it impossible to look all done up and sexy 24/7!
lol! i don't own any granny panties but i do have boy shorts that i LOVE they are comfy and i wear them during that time of the month. and the bf loves them too. so it's all good. :)
@bakerella: That story made me crack up!!
I have some ratty old undergarments that I break out during that time of the month, and no lie I've had some of them since I was eleven years old. I feel disgusting admitting that...that was half my lifetime ago! I don't actually *want* to have them, and would love to replace them with some comfy nice full-coverage ones, but I am outrageously poor right now. I can't even afford to replace my "nice" underwear that has worn out. I don't think it's necessary to feel gross during your period, or at least any grosser than biology already insures. I pretty much wear during my period what I do during the rest of the month, but I feel better in a full-coverage bottom during that time, and I'd love to have some nice ones just so I don't feel like I'm going above and beyond gross then.
And like some others have commented, my FI is no one to talk about the rattiness of some of my pairs of underwear. I've had to make him throw out several pairs because there were holes all through them in the wrong sorts of places and, most importantly, THEY WERE WAY TOO DAMN SMALL. I got uncomfortable just looking at him in them, the way they squeezed his legs to death. I worried that some pairs were so tight they might render him sterile.
I don't have granny panties but I do have some older underwear that I wear during that time of the month or when I haven't done laundry in a long time. I do wear cotton, "full butt" underwear as DH likes to call them 80% of the time. I honestly think once you're married, there's no reason to pretend that you wear sexy panties 24/7! But I do like my underwear to be stain-free and fit well on regular days.
This reminds me its about time to clean through my undie collection. A lot of my old ones I don't wear frequently at all but I have a hard time throwing them out "just in case" i guess.
I try every month to buy a couple undies to replace the older ones. I'd say I'd probably get rid of them.
What is your definition of granny panties though? The ones that go up past the belly button? In this generation, no one under 40-50ish wears those at all so it's moot. At that same time, I have heard that anything that covers more than a gstring is considered granny panties, which is incorrect. Not everyone is comfortable in those and prefer the coverage boyshorts or bikinis. Most women don't buy new underwear every week or every month and are still happily married (or in whatever relationship they happen to be in). It's one of those 'worry about yourself, not what others do' type thing. If a guy is so petty that he can't accept you based on your underwear choice, then something is wrong, since it's not like he doesn't have his own clothes that you may not like but he finds comfy so doesn't feel the need to replace them.
That said, I go for comfort all the way when possible, and moving in with someone doesn't make any sense to me to toss them all out when there is nothing wrong with them.
if you girls consider hipster and boyshort styles granny panties then I guess I'm a granny all the time!!!! I hate thongs and g-strings.
@Selene221: I'm 22 and I consider undies like these to be granny panties:

I consider hipsters and boy shorts to be "full coverage undies"
I rarely wear thongs, but i have everything from "full coverage" to "very cheeky" in VS speak. None that are baggy or come up to my belly button though! lol. I do keep a few pairs of older ones around for THAT week, but VS underwear are cheap so I generally keep pretty new stock.
Mike's underwear collection is in far sadder shape than mine, so it was really no big deal. I routinely purge worn/saggy/old panties when I do laundry, and I buy solid black for period time so I don't have to deal with leakage.
Boy shorts and low-rise briefs are my go-to panties. I cannot STAND thongs.
I voted to throw them out. I know my FH wouldn't mind, but I would. Having nice underwear on makes me feel nice.
I don't have any granny panties, and wear Frederick's of Hollywood lace thongs (super comfy) every day, even during that time of the month. I can't stand the possibility of having panty-lines.
I recently bought a few pairs of "boy short" underwear to sleep in for the summer because it's gets warm (we don't have AC). But I only wear those to sleep.
@babyboo:Oh, those are the exact kind I wear every day. I have boy shorts from the same packaging as well, but I like the low rise brief better. So comfy! So cheap! I used to be a thong girl, every day but there's something about sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day that makes thongs uncomfortable. I like my bottom to be fully covered. SO has lived with me for so long, I doubt he even notices unless I'm naked anyway.
I love you ladies! You make me feel so normal. I was wondering today if everyone had Period Panties, and whether or not "leakage" was a common problem. Maybe I should patent this idea: Period Panties! Black panties in every shape and size! LOL
@Babyboo- those are what I consider my granny panties as well (also at 22 lol). I just like cute underwear. It feel like it's weird. But, wearing good underwear does make me feel a tad more confident for some reason lol
He's not going to throw away his ratty underwear - nether should you! I relegated mine to period week or to times i'm not feeling well and know that we won't be getting busy, though.
NotFroofy teases me about my granny panties. However, with my son now engaged, I'll be a granny soon enough, so I think I get to wear them. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I like to refer to my granny panties as "sports undies" I usually wear a thong most of the time but do have several pairs of jockey "sports undies" (a NZ brand) which provide good coverage and are really comfy for netball and walking the dog etc. Do NOT try playing netball / basketball / squash in a thong!
I don't really have any granny panties like the Hanes 3 pack. I wear dress pants every day at work, and thongs are pretty much the only thing that don't show. I do have a few pairs that are a little rough that I keep as period panties. I usually wear boy short panties and a tank top to sleep in, but don't really think of them as granny panties either.
Ha, I am not a fan of granny panties personally, but I am getting rid of all my not so cute pajamas, I want to be as cute for my man as possible!
@MightySapphire: Love it :D If you can make them comfortable, non-butt climbing, visible seam-free, cotton, and moisture-wicking, I would wear them even when I wasn't having my period. Haha.
Haha, every time I move ANYWHERE, I make myself throw away any and all old undies - which usually ends up being about a third of them. Anything with holes, fraying, stains or unreasonable color fading (black cotton underwear = waste of money, you know!?).
I have sooooo much underwear though, so it's for the best. I probably buy 10 pairs every six months at VSecret's semi annual sale.
ETA: I'm not sure I understand the concept of wearing special underwear during your period though - why can't you wear normal undies? (not trying to be snarky, just really don't understand)
