lilwickedful:  sounds like it would just be on the food and drink not projector. you should be able to get an itemized estimate from them with the breakdown of costs and ask them to include the tax breakdown as well.

lilwickedful:  A gratuity is a gratuity – never a requirement. I am facing a similar issue with our venue with 20% “service charge” and a “recommended gratuity” on top of that. If you are happy with the service and feel it is warranted, give the 15%! If not, give what you feel is appropriate.

lilwickedful:  I would do it on just the food and bev unless someone is “running” the A/V for you on the projector. I would also only pay it afterwards. The final bill should only include required costs. I got lucky that our venue charges a 20% service charge, but that covers the gratuity.

lilwickedful:  Hmm. I think I’d let them know I’d be dropping them a check in the mail the next day for the selected gratuity. I would hate to have to worry about calculating and/or paying it that night.

lilwickedful:  I would read through your contract with a fine tooth comb and see how each is defined. Again, a gratuity is not required for anything by definition of it being a gratuity. I would absolutely wait until afterwards, my dad is going to distribute at the end of the night.

lilwickedful:  ohhhh okay. I know our venue included a 20% service fee which covered gratuities. I will prob tip any service people extra who go above and beyond – most likely the bartenders with the way our group drinks. Honestly I wouldn’t pay the gratuity straight to the venue if you didn’t technically have to (since its just a recommendation). I would just tip everyone in cash individually that night based on their service. if you have one awesome bartender and another shitty bartender they don’t deserve the same gratuity.

lilwickedful:  I would definitely not pay gratuity on the projector, if that is your biggest concern! Just my opinion though 😉

calculate the 15% gratuity on the price NOT including taxes or service charge
