So I am torn between what to choose for my bridesmaids dress colors. I was thinking of purple but it seems like everyone is doing purple and its going to be hard to find gray flowers. However , with gray dress I can have their bouquets with purple flowers which is easier to do.

Do gray dresses look good in pictures?

(The pictures are an example of shade and material of dresses).

This was a tough one for me too but i went with the grey silver! My florist actually suggested the silver because then the purple flowers would stand out more. Here is a pic of my BM. It was hard to find shoes tho.

Purple IMO...it pops and is flattering on most all skin types and hair colors.

I really like that color of grey you found. It's like a dark metallic grey. I think it's like a black and most color flowers would go well with it.

I say purple because it's timeless. After all, it is the color of royalty!!!!!

I'm for purple too - a most flattering color.

I actually like the gray. I agree the purple flowers will pop. Otherwise, you'd need to pick a third color for flowers since purple dresses and purple flowers would be too much. You could do the plum purple dresses with lavender colored flowers though or vice versa. I feel like sooo many people use purple, but that's just me. :)

I had a tough choice between purple and gray too. I didn't want purple because of the 2 weddings I've been to recently, both had purple BMs dresses. I wanted to do something different. I narrowed it down to either gray or black. Here is a picture of one of my BMs in her dress. Please excused the wrinkles. We just picked them up :p

I like the dresses that are in a steel gray color!  Way more flower options than with purple.  However I love the style of the purple dress :o)

Before clicking on this I thought... purple, no contest.  But once I saw them, I liked the grey dresses so much more!  They're gorgeous! I also like your idea about having contrasting bouquets.  Much easier with the grey dress.

I like the grey one, it's more neutral and universally flattering than purple! Plus, like you said, the purple flowers will pop!

Why would you want grey flowers? I think the gray looks better. I like purple don't get me wrong. But more of a lilac/lavender purple than deep purple. I love the grey dress but not so crazy about the material though. Love the color.

Definitely the grey! It's a flattering color and more timeless, and the flowers will really pop.

I'm not sold on the big poofy bubble hem of that grey dress you posted, though. I like the actual bridesmaid dresses the PP showed a little better. (That's my unsolicited opinion on that! :-) )

I'm biased but I'm going with gray for my BM dresses. I think it looks timeless, especially next to darks suits/tuxes

I absolutely love purple, my favi=e colour in the whole world but I think you should go with the grey. I had to leave purple out of our wedding because I feel like everyone is doing it, and I mean everyone. But I think the grey dress (it looks more like gunmetal to me) will look gorgeous with purple flowers!

I love the style of the purple dress, but grey would be better in the case so you can have purple flowers!

I think grey would be really pretty w/ purple flowers plus they might be able to wear it again more easily.

I LOVE the purple. I think its a much more flattering color on everyone. Grey seems to wash out some people.

Don't worry about everyone using dark purple. They use it b/c it looks great on everyone. Take into consideration all of you're girls skin/hair color tones. I think a charcoal would look good on everyone, but I know dark purple does.

I'm a color person so my first thought is purple. But I think it depends on what you're going for, gray can be really romantic!

I love purple, so I say purple... and I have seen silver and charcoal and such work well so I am not saying it can't, but to me I think gray and I think of serious business.  I wear gray for court, job interviews, that sort of thing.  But of course it totally depends on fabric and shade and all that too..

I would just personally go with purple.

I also would not care at all what other people are doing or going with in their weddings, because really, unless your guests hang out on wedding websites or go to several weddings a year, who will know?    I mean, it's different from avoiding, say, skinny jeans because everyone was wearing skinny jeans and you can see that 'everyone' in the general day to day routine (mall, grocery store, etc).  Know what I mean?

You can always add gray accents by having them wear silver / gray shoes, or adding silver or gray ribbon to bouquets.. or in a hair ornament or something?

I think gray in September would be fantastic and grey is the new IT color. I agree with florists that it would give you more options with flowers. Photos should not be a problem.

Either would look beautiful.  Purple is my favorite color, but I do like the gray with purple flowers.

We ended up going with purple dresses, white flowers & gray vests and ties for the guys. A few of my BMs tried on a few gray dresses and they looked washed out in photos so purple it was!

There are some great gray shoes out there so you could always do purple dresses with gray shoes!

    Good Luck!

You could always do gray wrap around the flowers and gray shoes. I love purple and it's my main color.

    @kma212s:

I'm actually doing this color palette as well. I am having pewter bridesmaid dresses with different shades of purple flowers with some ivory.

That or I keep going back and forth between purple and a coral color with the gray which I think would be gorgeous as well!
