So, I know a lot of you have been concerned about honeymooning in Mexico, but I found this great article by an author from the Wall Street Journal (i.e. legitimate source) explaining that resort and tourist areas have actually been very safe.

I know it has made me feel better about possibly honeymooning there.  I'm still considereing other options, like St. Lucia and Belize but I REALLY want to go to Mexico!

My friend just came back from Mexico for vacation and she said it was great.  Plus I have a few friends going to Mexico this summer; I'll keep y'all updated on how their trips go.

Anyway, check out the article. :)

    Happy Honeymoon Planning Ladies!

Yes, no cause for alarm. We recently returned from a honeymoon in Mexico, and there was nothing to cause concern. The Riviera Maya is very touristy, and extremely safe. Just use the same common sense that you'd use in a large U.S. city.

I would definitely recommend Mexico as a great HM destination.

it's a great article! i specially feel this is the key part:

To counteract rising fears about travel south of the border, Mexico's tourism industry has gone on a public-relations offensive. Hotels are offering discounts. Resort areas have beefed up security. They're trying to spread a key message: Mexico is a large, diverse country, and not every area has been affected by the increase in drug violence. Most of the tourist and resort areas are separated by hundreds of miles from the volatile battlegrounds of the drug war. Staying away from Puerto Vallarta because of what's going on in Ciudad Juárez would be like not traveling to Nebraska because of something happening in New York City, tourism officials say.

The Peninsula area (Yucatan, Cancun, The Riviera Maya) it's a safe area to stay on. Many bees have come to Mexico in the past year and they have had great experiences!

so, if you're planning to come, do it! i bet you'll love it!
