Lucky you! I have found the ease of returns at target depends on the person, they have some cranky policies they can chose to enforce, so lucky you :)
Sounds like a really great experience! Thanks for the review!
Just one question, and forgive me if I'm just confused, but why did you need to take back stuff that was bought from your registry if nothing extra was added on?
Thanks for the review i had heard some bad things and was kinda worried about it!
@jenbrandner: We got a lot of the same items from different stores. Since I didn't know where the other stuff was from (for example measuring cups), I figured it was easier to return the stuff on the registry. Some of the stuff we registered for but decided we didn't have room or need (for example, a utensil holder to sit on the counter, we got some canisters to sit on the counter and we didn't have room for both).
I had a good experience with my target registry too. I was a little unsure about it at first because some people warned me about their lame return policies but fortunately I didn't have to return anything from my bridal shower registry.
Did they send you some shutterfly and target gift cards too? I was so surprised to get these when I created the registry it made me forget all about the negative press I'd read (which is the point I suppose!)

I just wanted to jump on here and let everyone know that we got married on June 5th and went the following weekend to return some registry items that we didn't need/want. There were about 30 items that needed to be returned. About half of the items had gift receipts, most of the others were on our registry but we didn't have a receipt for, and a few I don't think were even on our registry but I knew were purchased from Target.
The customer service employee returned all of the items with gift receipts first and obviously this went really easy. Next he did all the items that were on our registry. We had to print out a "gift log" from the kiosks at the front of the store and they scanned the barcode at the top. The rest of the items without receipts were returned from that. They did not examine the list to make sure the items were on there, in fact I knew we returned several items that we did not register for.
The put it all on a Target Gift Card and in about 15-20 minutes we were on our way. They were really helpful and friendly.
Throughout our whole engagement I never had "mystery" items appear on my registry. A few of the items changed or were discontinued but this actually was more of an issue for us at Macys than it was at Target.
We registered three places, Target, Macys, and Kohls. I would say about 40% of gifts were from Target, 30% from Macys and 30% from Kohls. Obviously this is based on number of gifts and not cost of gifts. The more costly gifts were from Macys (knife block, dishes, etc).
