Go with your friend and perhaps come up with some wedding related duty for the cousin you’re not very close to anymore. A small task and a corsage can help keep things peaceable without compromising on whom you’re close to 🙂
Eh, i’d say just the friend or neither. I’ve seen it time and time again – if you choose someone out of obligation or for reasons other than being really close supportive people…it tends to backfire. That girl turns into (more often than not) the “bridesmaid from hell” and you see dozens of posts about “I chose this bridesmaid because _____ and now she’s not even cooperating!” Or whatever. I’d avoid that completely if I were you. 🙂 If it’s too complicated to choose your friend, then maybe just don’t.
