I’ve never been to Greece, but it sounds like a wonderful place to visit.  I know they have cruises around the islands so that should give you a chance to see a lot, if you choose.  I dont know where in PA you’re located but you may be able to fly direct to Athens which is a plus too.  One thing to bear in mind for europe overall is the exchange rate.  We are currently at about $1,30 for one euro.

My BIL/SIL went to Greece almost two years ago now for vacation. Beautiful pictures but honestly with their economy/government falling apart. I don’t know if personally I would want to go there.

In terms of cost – have you looked at some Groupon/Livingsocial deals? I’ve seen Fiji/Tahiti/South Pacific stuff there

i’ve flown out of BWI to go to Ireland, iceland, Germany etc.  They are amazing, it’s a different wing all unto it self, the security check took about 10 min at most. (much differen than the Orlando airport AT ANYTIME for any flight)

The thing is, my SIL is married to a man from Greece. He’s  brought his mother over here to get her out of all of the things going on there.  He has gone to Greece every year since he left (about 25 years), he won’t let his daughters go, or his mother go back for awhile.  Just something to think about.  The pictures are beautiful of their trips, and the people are amazing, it’s just the current situation.

@MsAmandaAnn:  I’ve never been to greece but my boyfriend have (with his parents) and he loved it, loved the food, the beach, everything.

We are both europeans, so I’ve been to other places, have you heard of croatia? I was there last summer and let me tell you it was beautiful. We sayed 3 nights at Dubrovnik, I can imagine myself there on a honeymoon, and plus the cost of living is way down then most of other european countries.

I’m from Portugal, and Algarve (the low region on the country) is my favorite site for summer vacations, because is very calm and quiet and the beaches have clean sand and a good water (not as hot as the mediterranean see, but hot enough, most turist don’t complain) and have excellent prices as well πŸ™‚

This summer I’m going to turkey, I heard it’s quite beautiful as well.

Anyway, if you are not sure if you want to go to greece, i would say go, because it’s a really beautiful country and the food it’s just to die for πŸ™‚

If you want to know anything more about some of the places I talked, let me know. Hope I helped πŸ™‚

@MsAmandaAnn:  The economic crisis is certainly dire, as in most countries in South Europe right now, but this does not really influence tourists.

It’s not dire to tourists until the people go on strike.  I have no comment one way or the other or know the ins/outs of day to day life in Greece, just passing on what I know.
