Honestly I don’t know what we’re doing. I’m Greek but my fiance isn’t. I want paranymphakia but I don’t know how to explain to his parents what they are!

@Lepidoptera:

 @Chrysoberyl:

Hi Greek Bees.  I’m a Greek MOB, Australian born and trying to pass on to my daughter the Greek wedding traditions taught to me by my mother and grandmother.

Chrysoberyl – paranymphakia are the flower girls Smile

 Ask away if there are any Greek traditions you are not sure about.

Hey ladies! I’m not Greek but my fiance is. I converted to GO in May and are getting married in the church.

Does any one know what I’m supposed to be doing for the music before & during the ceremony? Can I choose it, or is there specific songs that should be played?

@abby382:  Not sure about America but in Australia we are not allowed any other music.  The ceremony consists of hymns and prayers.

This is a good site to get information in regard to the ceremony. I will include this in the service book so the non Greeks have some idea of what is going on.  Actually most Greeks have no idea what it’s all about because the service is in Ancient Greek.

I’m sure the GO church in America have a similar site.

My Future SIL is also being baptized.  We keep picking on him – that it’s going to be like My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
