I think a medium grey suit is fine but a white shirt will always look more formal. Why can't he wear a jacket and tie?
I agree that the suit is fine, but that I'd go for a shirt and tie underneath the jacket if possible.
I like the grey suit, navy shirt with a tie. I think he needs to wear a tie with the suit to make it more formal. Love the dress you chose!
FI and his groomsmen are wearing grey suits to our evening wedding. I think it's totally appropriate!

We are guests at a wedding in a few weeks. It's an evening wedding at a really formal venue, but the invitation doesn't say what kind of attire. I bought a dress really similar to this, and I'm trying to figure out what to have my husband wear. He doesn't have any dark suits, and can't afford to go buy one for this wedding. His choices are a medium grey suit with navy shirt, or navy shirt and tie with charcoal grey pants and no jacket (probably everyone will take their jacket off for the reception, so no one would notice then). Not thrilled with those choices, but what do you think? :/ Would this look below be formal enough? Thanks!
