@champton89:  Unless your FI is known for an eclectic style of dressing, this would come off as trying way too hard for me.

@champton89:  trying too hard to be diifferent, just for the sake of being different, whether it looks good or not.

@champton89:  I googled images and here are a few that came up. I hope these are actual sperrys cause I am not too familiar with them actually!

This was the only image I could round up thou…..hope it helps!

@champton89: I don’t think it will look good.  A grey Tuxedo is still quite formal, and the shoes are very casual.  They will look odd next to each other.  Even if you are going to go with a non-traditional/casual shoe with a Tuxedo, sperrys have too much going on, detailwise.  Solid coloured Chucks would actually be a better choice, because their design is more plain.

Are you going for “different” or are you trying to dress down the tuxedo?

Is the grey Tux a firm decision, or are you still in the planning stages for the whole outfit?

I’m not a fan of this for a wedding.  I also don’t think shoes can count as the GM gift if they are part of the outfit.  Makes me think of young Republicans or something

@champton89:  I think they are a great groomsman gift – but they flat out don’t go with a suit.  They’re casual.  They’re called “deck shoes” because they were meant designed to worn when relaxing on a boat with close friends and family in the summer.

Give them as a gift, but wear black Oxfords for the wedding.

Our guys are wearing grey suits with white vans.  I dont think the tuxedo will work with such casual shoes

It miiiiight work with a gray suit, but not with a tuxedo.  I don’t like the combo at all, sorry.

I’d go the suit route if you must have that shoe. It’s a very casual look and wouldn’t look right with a tux, IMO.

No. Tuxedos and Sperries don’t mix.

Def not with tuxedo. Maybe with a more casual wedding outfit. Maybe.
