From the other post it appears you used closet dowels for the curtain rods, are they wooden? Most curtain rods are made from metal or at least plastic (I’ve never used plastic). If they are wooden that is probably the problem.

You need a smaller rod so they slide easily. I had the same problem until I got a smaller circumference rod and now they’re fine.

it looks like the rod and the grommets are the same size so sizing down on the rod should definitely help. I think they always recommend rods .5 bigger than the grommet.

Take an old taper candle and rub it around the inside of the grommet rings.

We have this same issue on some of our windows, it’s because the rod is too large for the gromet. We never changed them out because we liked the look of the larger rod, you just get used to how you need to move the curtains. Instead of grabbing the edge of the panel and ust pulling you need to grab more of the curtain if that makes sense, and release it little by little as you close it over the window.

Basically, there isn’t really going to be a solution besides changing the rod or adjusting the way you close the curtains. For us, it didn’t bother us enough to make any changes.

You need a thinner rod. Any chance you can return the closet rods and get the real thing?
