@Oh Ya:  I’m sure there’s a emergency “Lesson for Dummies” classes out there!

Mine can’t dance…so he refuses to! He’s been quite shameless in bagging out all the other groom-to-be buddies who are taking classes. Grrrr.

Mine used to take ballet among other things as a kid so I’m the one who’s completely useless. Don’t worry about it, no one will judge. But as PP said, there’s still time to take a last minute class.

Mine can’t dance properly but nor can I. I was dancing around the other day and he just started laughing and asked if I was doing the ‘Elaine Dance’ from Seinfield as a joke. I said no I was being totally serious that’s how I dance!

It’s his wedding too. Obviously one of you has to compromise but sometimes it’s best to not make him dance.

Mine is a pretty bad dancer as well, but oh well!  We’re taking dance lessons right now and getting our first dance choreographed.  The rest of the dancing for the reception will be his sillly “fingers in the air/tongue sticking out” dance. lol It’s embarassing, but that’s him and he has fun 🙂

Are you worried about your first dance? You can just sway back and forth middle school style. Maybe find a short song?

If he’s worried about dancing in general at the reception, I’m sure no one will notice his moves with the dance floor is full.

My Fiance can’t dance… well, neither of us can!

We aren’t having any dancing other than a first dance at our wedding (unless someone just feels inclined to start boogieing to whatever background music I put together) and we are just doing the stand and sway middle school dance version…. and our song is almost 4 minutes long!   I may try to snip and cut the song to make it shorter!!

If you’ve got a good teacher, you don’t actually need that long to learn a short dance routine.  FI and I only took 2 lessons (though we practiced everyday for 15-20 minutes in between them – very important!) before the teacher pronounced us good enough to not need any more.  That really surprised me since I figured he’d want to push a big, expensive lesson package on us.  We’ll probably go back for a refresher and last minute pointers a couple weeks before the wedding.  Just make sure you practice!

If you don’t want to take lessons, I’d agree with previous posters that you should find a shorter song or use a computer program to shorten a long one.  Our song is just 2:30 and it feels long enough.  I can’t imagine doing a 4 or 5 minute song!

And if you can’t get Fiance to even consider lessons, see if he’ll just practice the hold-and-sway dance with you at home once or twice to get more comfortable with it.  Tell him to get creative and throw in a few turns, it could be fun to just make up your own thing too!

We can’t dance either.  Well he can dance better than I can.  He was trying to show me some moves but I was just stepping on his feet.  We’re having guests join us half way through the dance to relieve some anxiety LOL….we’re kinda shy but I wanted a dance.  Our default plan is to middle school sway.  I should make him practice with me today now that we have a song.
