@lancyan45: I think the navy would be fine with charcoal! And anytime there are little dudes in suits it is super adorable anyway. No matter the color ;)
I say go for it. I think it will flow nicely. Your groom is supposed to be different and stand out anyway.

hi bees,
my fiance and i are on a tight budget. to keep costs down for our semi-formal evening wedding, he'd like to wear his charcoal suit.
for our 2 ring bearers, i am trying to find versatile items that will make the expense worth it for the parents. i read that a classic navy blazer can be worn with jeans, khakis, navy and grey pants, and can be dressed up/down easily. i am thinking of pairing the blazers with charcoal pants, white buttoned shirt, black shoes, and tie/vest which will all match the groom for the most part.
since our wedding is unconventional anyways (japanese garden, no BM's/GM, we are going to a restaurant reception, no dancing/bridal bouquet toss, etc...), would the groom/ring bearer outfits work, or look too confusing?
btw, my sister's MIL offered to sew the flowergirls' ivory dresses, and i'd like to coordinate their accents (ribbon around the waist/headband) with the ring bearer ties.
thanks so much for your insights!
