I would really stick with a nice tux. A colored shirt is going to look dated and trendy so quick. Maybe do a colored tie if you really want color. I think there is nothing better then a man is a James Bond looking tux. Yummy!
What's wrong with just the colored tie? Mmmm. i'm all about it, too!
You can do colorful shirts if you want. Frankly, they remind me of prom, when the dude matches the girls' dress. It's not my thing and it didn't go with our wedding at all so I didn't even consider colored tuxes. We did black with white shirts and black vests and my husband wore a white vest and black shirt. It was snazzy.
My wedding colors are pink and green, and my fiance wants he and his groomsmen to wear medium gray tuxes, and then they're wearing pink ties to match the bridesmaids' dresses/wedding colors.
You could definitely do something like that -- maybe like a charcoal tux with plum ties?

I am getting married this upcoming December and am having a difficult time deciding on what I want my husband to be and his groomsmen to wear.
Our color palette are jewel tones - indigo, plum and champagne accents. My bridesmaid dresses are indigo (pretty close to Navy). A lot of people have opinions (shocking) and think that I should just dress the guys in the typical black and white tuxedo, but to be honest, I wanted to something a little different. I mean, I don't mind so much the black tuxedo, but can I get away w/ a color shirt, etc?
If anyone has suggestions, alternative ideas, whatever, I would be so appreciate. Any help would be great.
