I am going to get a surprise groom's cake for my fiance.  A friend suggested having it at the rehersal dinner so it stands out but I am wondering if it's better to have it at the wedding reception.

Not sure how to present it yet either!

I am surprising him with his at the reception.  There will be so many things there that are "me" that I want him to have his thing.  Plus, our rehearsal is going to be so small.  I want to show it off!

I think having it at the wedding would be great, and then everyone will get to see it!

Definately at the wedding. If it's at the RD, there's a limited audience, like Miss Fro Yo said.  :)

I agree with everyone else...I had the same question and was very undecided but I have ultimately decided I will be having it at the wedding so that my future hubs can have "HIS" thing :)

The wedding- and you might be surprised how many people can be served by just a grooms cake!

Hmm.  I think @ the wedding.  After all, there'll be the bride's cake and then the groom's cake.

My favorite groom's cake story has to be from Steel Magnolias.  The red velvet cake (apparently another southern thing) was an armadillo, so it was like cutting in to "flesh."

I'm going against the flow, because I think I"m doing the groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner. More of our closer friends and those who will understand the cake will be at the dinner. I can see more confused looks on people's faces if we do it at the reception.

If I were doing a grooms cake, I would have it presented at the wedding reception ... my rehearsal is sooo small! I want to show it off too!
