I'm doing it as a surprise! You should go for it!!
Are you trying to figure out what to do? Maybe give your baker a call and have them give you ideas of things they excel in and/or ask them if they can do x,y, or z. My FI is a big sports fan, so I'm doing something sports related (a medley of his favorite teams)
Serve his favorite dessert. Doesn't have to be cake unless he loves it. Some bakers will design and decorate it to fit his hobbies and interests. Contrary to popular belief, it does not have to a chocolate creation. It's not required but go for it if you want it.
I'm doing ice cream because the FI loves ice cream. In fact he asked for an ice cream cake from Baskin and Robbins. But I don't know how I can make that work with 200 guests. So I'm getting the venue to buy ice cream in bulk. It is a surprise and I can't wait for him to see it!
My FI totally took charge of this. He knew what he wanted, so I didn't get the chance to surprise him.
I surprided him! It was kind of a waste of cake, but the look on his face (and his friends faces) was classic and worth every penny!!!
He had never even heard of a grooms cake so he really wasn't expecting it!
Great! My FI loves to surf and ride his Harley. He also loves German Chocoloate Cake. You all have encouraged me to surprise him. So I will!
Thanks!
So fun! Mr. Fro Yo was all about the groom's cake, so I'm sure your guy will love it too!
Oh perfect!
I'm going to go look for a picture of ours to show you... if he likes Harley's, he'll love this!
I'm surprising him at the rehearsal dinner with a baked bean can cake of chocolate proportions, lol. I've gotten him a can of baked beans as a gift for every important event in our relationship and even the unimportant ones and I figure this is the perfect way to keep up the tradition haha
Surprise him! We have a pizza place in our neighborhood that also has a pastry chef....and a slice of german chocolate cheesecake makes its way home with us almost every time we eat there. So I'm going to have some friends bring the cheesecake with them to the wedding. Now how to store it in a hotel room until the wedding is another story!
I found a picture, but it's so close up that you cant really get a good idea. I blocked out the names but it was a harley emblem with mylastname-hislastname on the top.
Anyway, it's kind of a joke in our house that he loves his Harley and I hate it, plus our last names kind of rhyme with harley-davidson so I just had to do it...
As I mentioned before, no one really cut into it so it was kind of a waste but it got some good laughs and made for a lot of funny conversations on the honeymoon so it was worth it to me in the end!
Nice! I love all the ideas. You all are so creative. I want to do a mix between surfing and his Harley. I think that will be tough. lol
I swear this is T. He has a red jeep that's for his offroad adventures with every kind of possible device on it. He and my son love to go mudding and drive thru streams and up in the mountains etc.
They think it's fun to get stuck in the mud.
So I think he'd like this kinda cake:

(southern tradition these grooms' cakes you know?)
I'm not so sure about this one ... i'm looking for Phillies/supra/army fun for a groom's cake ... haha... but they are super cool!
I am getting a groom's cake for my fiance in the shape of an old-school nintendo system complete with controllers because he is a big gamer. He is going to love it!
Definitely surprise him. Does he love cake? If not, maybe pick some other dessert that he really loves, be it cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc.
OMG. i just ordered his yesterday. I'm going to surprice him with it! He's a huge Rockets fan so I'm having something like this with Yao Ming's number and it'll say Rockets somewhere in there .. I'm actually a little more excited about tasting this (Chocolate w/ raspberry filling) than our regular cake! :D

I always did like that meatloaf cake idea...but that's a bit harder to shape into something fancy.. :)

Hello,
My honey and chose our cake and we love it! I want to surprise him with a groom's cake. Is anyone surprising their love with one or am I taking a risk? We have discussed a groom's cake and he's open to the idea but we didn't order one last weekend.
Thoughts?
