We're not planning on giving each other gifts, but I'm still thinking about looking into getting my FI a cheap carry on suit case for our honeymoon since he doesn't have any luggage.
Depends on his interests...
I have no money but I am totally splurging and getting my guy an electric drumset because he wants one more than anything. I think he has sacrificed so much for us so he deserves it!
But what if you handwrote and framed your vows for him?
ohhh... artspout.love... handwriting my vows is a great idea! i'll definitely be doing that. my guy wants drum lessons so bad.. haha. he thinks he's going to be a rock star "when he grows up."
sweetlikcake: i wanted to do that too, but unfortunately that's out of my price range. maybe i can do it for the one year anniversary.
try to think of something that he's wanted and hasn't been able to buy for himself... doesn't have to be something really expensive, just thoughful... I don't have a lot of money either btw...good luck to us both...lol
my FH's fav author is kurt vonnegut. i am going to get him a first edition of vonnegut's "galapagos" for about $30, which is also our honeymoon destination. someone also suggested i get a piece of vonnegut's artwork for him, that is going to cost more like $300 and may have to be a gift for another time. =D
@JanieLeigh: Im actually having a shoot at my house. My friend's coming over and shes going to take pictures for me and im going to take it to walmart/costco and having a book made that way. :D
Do the drum lessons then!
Why not? Could be a fun activity that he will never forget! :)
Unfortunately, I don't think he'd have the time to do the drum lessons. Plus, they're pretty pricey around here.
I'm still so stumped!
What does your groom love? What would he cherish? Think of something he has always wanted, but perhaps was just superfluous. I got my groom a pearl-handled damascus Boker knife- I have seen him studying the catalogs when they come in the mail. He loves knives, and in our family it is a tradition to have a knife you cherish and will pass on. I am getting it engraved with the same thing he wrote inside my engagement ring. He has No Idea, because I got it when we first got engaged and have been saving it for him. I think he will love it! It is really hard for me to keep a secret, so he will be suprised!
Does he have any hobbies or interests? You said you are laid-back- does he like fishing or camping? What are you into?
well, he likes sports and gaming. we like to do outdoors stuff too. the only thing i KNOW that he wants is new rims for his car, but i don't have $1000. he is so hard to shop for.. i go through this every birthday and christmas! and the wedding is SO much harder!
We are rather laid back too, but are having a semi-formal wedding so to take the edge off I bought him clay cufflinks shaped like xbox controllers off etsy. I know most people think of cufflinks as fancy but when you make them look like a game controller I think it takes the fancy out and adds in some whimsy =). I'll get him something else that's practical too, I just haven't thought of it yet lol
We are also not doing gifts. I would like us to do letters to each other.. but I have a feeling that it will just make me cry and mess up my makeup! So we haven't decided.. I'm no help!
I think a framed photo with a nice note would be a great gift for him right before the wedding or maybe a scrapbook/photo album of your relationship up to the wedding - you can put one together quickly on a site like snapfish or shutterfly
I'm surprising him with budoir pics also. Why not pay for him one session of drum lessons..like in certificate form.
We have been talking about our gifts (even though we have more than a yeat) and we were thinking of getting each other bikes... we just like the idea!
oh, bikes! that's awesome! we could both use new bikes, but we're poor. :(
@janieleigh sounds like there isn't much you can "afford" and perhaps you ought to get creative and make him something.... you could do your own boudoir photos at home with a tri-pod/digital camera and fix them up on photoshop. ...or make him a coupon book of super sexy bedroom things you're willing to do for him. ....or draw an abstact (think picaso, crazy wavy lines) of your figure and frame it for him. there are a ton of DIY things you can do, just for him, that won't break the bank.
good luck!
Vaga: Those are great ideas. We're both students, so we don't have a lot of extra money lying around. It takes all of our money just to LIVE nowadays. Just last night we put a $10 limit on our gifts so I'm REALLY going to have to get creative! I'm definitely going to write out my vows, but I just need to decide on what else.
i totally understand... i'm a fulltime student and FH is an artist... a struggling artist! so we're not rolling in it either. =D
another idea is to start a blog, today, and everyday until your wedding post wonderful things that you love about him and romanitc poems, songs, videos - whatever - that remind you of how much you love him! then, on your wedding day, you can give him a card with the url in it - and he can later see all the wonderful things you adore about him! (and have it for ever). you can continue to put snippits of love on there throughout your marriage, too, and when he checks it occasionally it will be love surprises - and its free!
(i love this idea so much, i think i will do this too! haha)

Help me, hive! I'm TOTALLY lost! My wedding is almost a month away, and I have no clue what to get my man. All of the traditional wedding gifts are out--watch, money clip, cufflinks--for one reason or another. We're pretty laid back people, and so anything too fancy wouldn't be a good use of money. Speaking of money, I don't have a whole lot of it! Can anyone give me some suggestions? What'd you get your guy?
