SO has wanted a new watch since we got together.

I went to a high end outlet store last week with his mom so I picked one up and gave it to him early.

He loved it!

@HuskerGirl:  What is he wearing the day of?

Tie clip/pin – if he’s wearing a vest, a stick pin; if he’s not wearing a vest, a tie bar.

Pocket watch and chain if he is wearing a vest/likes to wear vests.

A hat – especially if he’s buying his tuxedo, a black fur felt homburg (around $200 or so) is a great addition to that ensemble.

A beautiful shaving brush and mug, and a wooden handled razor, perhaps on the art of shaving with a butterfly razor, which I’m told is supposed to feel amazing.  I use a gilette, but go for a hot shave once in a while, and I’m told that the butterfly razor shave is almost like getting a hot shave every day.

Cufflinks.

Metal collar stays. (though you have to know what size(s) he needs)

Again is he wearing a tux? A nice cufflink/stud set.  Check out blacktieguide.com for some research on what kind to get him.

Something personal and special like, if he enjoys literature, an antique book on his favourite subject.

An amazing bottle of vintage wine or whiskey, like actually go and spend whatever you think you want to spend on the gift on a bottle of something special.

If you are truly stuck, why not go shopping with him after the wedding and get him something? It would be the perfect excuse to spend time together and you will know for a fact he is getting something special he’s been wanting. Make a day of it, have lunch together outside, take a walk and shop at a relaxed pace.

Does he enjoy fishing, for instance? Rods and reels, good ones….are not cheap. And they last for a looonnngggg time.

Love the idea of vintage wine or whiskey and a crystal decanter to go with, or some nice glass barware.

HTH. 🙂

@teeny1967:  Crystal decanter and barware are great ideas!  That was my silly thing I added to the registry – a crystal whiskey decanter – and it was the FIRST thing that was bought!!!!

I’m not getting my FH anything expected (shaving kit, cufflinks, watch, etc.), since he would never use any of those things.  Instead, I’m buying him an excursion during our honeymoon.  I say go with something he would truly enjoy, even if it’s not a physical item.

@HuskerGirl:  Get him a signed photo of one of his favourite athletes, or a famous moment, or whatever.  I have one of the famous Bobby Orr flying leap that my dad got me a few years back, and I still just stop to look at it from time to time, thinking how cool it is that I have that photo with Bobby Orr’s signature, hanging on my wall.

My SO is IMPOSSIBLE to shop for. He is very picky, wears suits to work so cufflinks etc isn’t that special to him and he wears no jewellery (and already has a really expensive watch) so I am giving him something more personal that he has been wanting for a year…

His pick of our first dance song! 🙂 He basically has been wanting this song for our first dance song for over a year and I have been really against as I feel the lyrics aren’t really fitting and it and it has sort of become a joke between us now. He asks I say no. He puts it on every now and again and looks at me with a hopeful smile and I say no. lol So the other day I realised that it has become “our song” because of it. He has no idea and will not know until the music starts on our wedding day. I’m very excited and hope that he will be super surprised. 🙂

I’m getting FI some Oakley sunglasses. His are all old and scratched and it will be perfect for the honeymoon in Maui, HI. The only thing is that it is not a surprise because he has to try them one before I buy them.

I’m more practical and got my husband a fridge.  We’re still in a semi-roomate situation while we save up for a house and after years of having his brother as a roomate, DH really wanted his own fridge.  He loves to cook and plenty of space for his ingredients is importsnt to him.  He loves the fridge, loves that I got him something that is practical on a daily basis and that was something he really needed/desired.

think outside the gift box….
