My dress is ivory and we were advised that the groom and groomsmen should follow and wear ivory shirts so my dress doesn't look "old".  Do you agree or disagree?  Would it be awful if they were in white shirts and me in ivory dress?   Same goes for flower girl dress and ring bearer shirt.  Thanks.

If you go to the tuxedo place and look at the different shirts, you can see how the white looks with the tuxedo and the same with the ivory.  My dress is ivory & champagne and I asked the same question in the fall-everyone told me to go with white!  When I got to the tuxedo shop, I could see why.  Ivory shirts tend to look dirty with the black tuxes.  I think it's a matter of preference though-maybe you would like the look.  Definitely go look.

It probably depends on how ivory your dress is, and what you prefer. My dress is ivory, and the groom/groomsmen are all wearing ivory shirts - I like it better, and it's what the tuxedo place reccomended.

I asked this question in a post a long time ago...here is the link: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/06/19/corn-a-question-for-the-hive/

As you can see, the general consensus was go with the white.  Now that the wedding is past, I would have to agree.

UGH!  After reading that old post, now I'm second guessing myself also. My dress is Ivory and the guys have ivory shirts. I'm going to go in this weekend and take another look.

I think you will be fine doing white- I think that is what most people do.  My dress is ivory, I am having the groom wear a white shirt with an ivory vest and tie (It actually looks good together- thats how they had it on display at MensWearhouse).  I'm sure whatever you decide will look great!

My dress is also ivory and champagne.  I bought an ivory tuxedo shirt for my FH to wear with his tuxedo.  He's going to wear a champagne colored vest to match my dress.

I saw a lot of variations of white and ivory while shopping for formalwear.  Some stores displayed white shirts with ivory vests.  It seems like anything goes.
