Its hard the photo next to the proof does look very similiar but that could have been the angle the photo was taken at because I do see some differences with the straight forward photo. Once they have color on them I'm sure the similiarities will be even more apparent.
I think it not having color makes it hard for him to see it... and the angle of the picture that was sent in probably had something to do with it, too.

I think the proof looks exactly like the photo it was modeled after.
The two photos don't look the same, but that is not the fault of the artist. I think they did a great job mimicking the likeness of the photo.
well, I can't help out of the 10 photos of him they chose that one for whatever reason. It does look nice, but I want him to be happy so if he wants a spitting image then darnit I gonna get him a spittin image
@lwilliams107: Ah, didn't realize you sent them a bunch of photos. I still think it looks a lot like him, but if he wants it redone, and you have the money, then get it redone.
@KatNYC2011: Nah I don't have to repay, thank goodness!! They send the proofs so that you can approve them before they finish the entire piece. I just want him to be happy... he really does have a once in a lifetime kind of feeling about it. He's my pumpkin pie, so I will be sure to send in the new photos with my fingers crossed. I know a lot of work goes into it, but I don't want these ppl being driven crazy so if the n ext proof looks the same we will just go forward with production.

Wow this is probably one of the coolest things I've seen on here! First of all you are absolutley gorgeous, like stunningly pretty. Secondly I think the sculpter did a pretty good job on your FIs model, however I think I might have to agree on his hair, and I think that his ears are probably sticking out just a little too much for my personal liking (granted that could just because of the angle).Other than that I think once it is coloured he will be able to see himself better in his mini-me
I would also just mention to the maker that you just think something is a little off and if they have any suggestions of what they can fix slighty without necessarily starting over.

I think the topper totally looks spot on like him in the first picture, not as much in the second because his hair is different. Of course, as some PPs have said I think the painting will make a difference.
But hey, if he isn't happy I would get them to change it.

If he doesn't like it, definitely get them to rework the proof :) BTW - these are so cool!
I kind of see a difference so I agree with your FI.
Your real FI has a slightly wider nose bridge. The brow ridge is a bit higher and more open. I notice this more on the right side (left side in the picture). I guess the eyes of the mold are too deep set or the brows too heavy. It's a really small amount though.
From the 2nd pic, it looks like your FI's natural expression is more open and happy while the mold is a bit more serious-looking.
Hopefully they can make these small changes.

The painting will make a huge difference. It looks just like the first pic, and once painted your groom will love it, too.

Well the groom's head proof for our wedding cake topper came in... and well, we weren't as impressed as we were with mine. I know its difficult to sculpt these things, but he really got his hopes up when it came in... I don't blame hime for $200+ I'd want a miniature replica of me too (which I got!)... He felt the nose, hair, and eyes just weren't him... But if its any consolation I'd be happy to marry either hottie on my wedding day!! :)
