Just a random question, did anyone have or is anyone planning on having groomsmaids at their Catholic ceremony? Due to some events recently, Fiance wants to ask a couple of his female friends to stand up for him as groomsmaids. I have seen a lot of this in wedding posts and pictures and stuff, but never specifically at a Catholic ceremony. Is this allowed?

I’m having one. My fiance is really close to his sister so it makes more sense. It’s fine to do in a Catholic ceremony. They don’t really care about the attendants, as long as you have 2 to act as witnesses.

Its not a part of of the Catholic ritual to have a wedding party beyond your witnesses which are typically your maid of honor and your best man. That said, my husband had my brothers and only one of his friends as a groomsmen. He also asked a good male friend of mine to be a groomsmen, but he was downgraded to an usher because I had issues with my bridesmaids. We were going to have my husband’s sister as a bridesmaid, but she wasn’t comfortable with it and refused. So I had my sister and two of my friends.
