From the pictures you posted, I think all the combinations for the groom/groomsmen look nice! What does your FI think?

That sounds logical! I think you should go for him in the suit and the groomsmen in just khaki pants. That sets him apart for the ceremony and pictures, but he can easily take off the jacket too.

We’re doing something similar for our indoor ceremony, outdoor reception – no suits, just charcoal gray vests and pants with white shirts. 🙂

Just my opinion, but I think there’s a car salesman look to the fellas without a jacket or vest.  Nothing against car salesmen, but the tie floating about by itself looks a little unfinished to my eye.  If you want them to look different from the groom maybe throw the groomsmen in navy blue blazers. It’d be pretty cool and preppy with the awesome-sounding bowties you describe.  I don’t know, maybe with the guys in bowties instead of long ties, the look won’t be too unfinished. For a completed look, I’d at least get them in vests. But they’d have no use for vests and it’d be sort of a wasted purchase.  They could always use kahki or navy blazers in the future.

    Good luck!

I personally prefer with a jacket, but I don’t think you can go wrong, really. You did a really nice job styling. Congrats!

I like the idea of the groom looking a little different.  In my wedding, the groom is wearing a gray suit, the groomsmen are wearing gray pants and vests, and they’re all wearing the same shirts and ties.  But keep in mind that you’re going to be outdoors; I’m not sure how hot it is where you are in May, but it could go two ways; they groomsmen will be cooler without jackets, but you might see sweaty pit marks!
