We bought them their ties, and were planning to get them some nice but funny cufflinks (silver, that say “Drinking Arm” and “Reserve Drinking Arm”). FMIL says she HATES this idea because the best man (her son) doesn’t have occassion to wear a suit, and this is a “wasted gift.” Ummm, okay… this is a pretty classic gift.
The GM’s are from different walks of life. 3/4 work in offices, one is unemployed. I still think a classic gift like cufflinks is fine. What do you guys think?
Here are some others we like and could afford:

I like the cufflinks idea, but only if they would be truly useful to each guy. What about giving them each a gift card to their fav store/restaurant? That would never go to waste…

I agree, I do like the cufflinks idea, but I think you will be happier giving a gift that they will actually use after the wedding. My FI and I are giving our groomsmen personalized coolers and sticking a 6 pack of their favorite pop/beer in them. Here is a link to them: http://weddingshop.theknot.com/personalized-cooler-chair-mens.aspx

@PolkaDotLaceBride: every past groomsmen i ever talked to said they hated the cheesey gifts of cufflinks, personalised flasks, bottle openers, stuff like that.
thinking many groomsmen don’t like stuff like that we are making them all a gift basket which will have a mason jar, coke, mini bottles of liquor, cigars, all stuff for them to use when they are hanging out after the rehearsal or before the wedding.
but then again our groomsmen are all drinkers… so it is just an idea! you can change what to put in the basket
some other things we considered were paying for them all to go golfing together before the wedding, or to a shooting range. so they could have quality guy time together and dont have to take home any cheesey gifts they will never use again

i love the mug idea! i found a cool one for you though on gifts.com … it’s a pager to find your beer when you’ve lost it lol. thought was cute if they’re all drinkers! or a round of golf too i liked that idea 🙂 something they can either use and never buy themselves or something u can all do together 🙂 good luck!
