Several traditional ideas are a pocket watch, watch, or money clip.
Yeah we don't really want to do anything like that... something useful...
Skip the wedding catalogs since most men really don't want those things. Shop for them as if it was their birthday or Christmas. What types of things are they into in their everyday lives? Any particular hobbies or other interests?
I'm having the same issue...I need some good ideas for my FH's brother (best man) and my brother too...

I think you hit the nail on the head with the flashlight and knife set. Seriously, my FI never leaves the house without his mini flashlight and his pocketknife. He just got all his buddies pocket knives for Christmas, and they were so excited.
we got these $7 beer mugs with our groomsmen's names monogrammed, mostly because that seemed like such a good deal! and our guys will use them -- http://www.potterybarn.com/products/pub-beer-mug/?pkey=cbarware we're probably getting them something else too...

I think we're going to order the knife/flashlight kits and the get something else to go along with it...
Red Envelop has cufflings made from old seats from Yankee stadium and other stadiums and baseballs.
Are they into video games/Star Wars? Amazon has these flash drives shaped as different game and Star Wars characters. You could upload some cool pics of them with you and the groom from the past.
Get them a cool piece of photography, if they own a house or if they would be into it.
I second the "shop as if it's Christmas" idea if you don't want anything traditional! The girls have given you some great ideas, though.
What about a monogrammed money clip or wallet???? Or another great gift that guys LOVE (after the get them and use them) are UGG slippers or any great slippers for that matter.
we did gift cards. boys are sooo hard to shop for and we wanted them to actually use their gifts. we got one a golf game and the other a really nice steak restaurant.

What the heck do we get the Best Man and the groomsman?
Best man is my FI's long time friend and groomsman is my brother... we dont want to get them something useless (beermug, flask, etc...)
Need creative ideas!
