I’m also having a beach wedding (I am assuming your are by your name lol) but the groom and best man will not be wearing shorts. My FI is very casual but there is no way I would be happy with him wearing shorts (thankfully he hasn’t asked).

I guess it depends on what you’re wearing too. I’m wearing a proper bridal gown so it would look silly for him to be so casual next to me. But if you were wearing something less formal, say like a sun dress then I suppose it could work.

@beachbridebc:  It does happen. I would at least encourage him to have them in dress shorts.

Im having a beach wedding on hamilton island and FI wants to wear shorts. I wasnt convinced until I saw some pics on facebook where it looks good. Actually the hamilton island weddings fb page has alot of albums of beach weddings with grooms wearing everything from shorts and shirts to three piece suits, might be a good to look at to compare the looks

Looks okay for a beach wedding. Not so much for any other kinds of weddings. I really don’t like the pictures above of groomsmen in a garden or urban decor with their shorts and socks. They would look better in kilts.

Also, the last picture looks extremely casual. Unless you’re also having a short, cocktail dress, I think it would look silly on pictures with your big, long, formal gown.

No, just no to shorts lol.

I think it would be acceptable if your ceremony was on sand however I think linen pants rolled up a little would look immmeasureably better.

If your wedding is in a garden, I would personally veto the shorts. I really think your guests would end up looking more formal, this will look odd in your photos IMHO.

Bless your FI for having ideas though, some grooms don’t contribute much at al 🙂

@beachbridebc:  Since it’s not on the beach, I would say no to the shorts. To me, shorts are only acceptable for a wedding in the sand – and even then it depends. They have to be NICE shorts (like a linen) with a love sleeve button down sleeves rolled. Letting the guys choose their own ends up with different color and cargo shorts. Not good. It would need to be a VERY casual wedding.

beachbridebc: A picture of my husband and his groomsmen is the 1st picture that julies1949 uploaded. They wore some really nice khaki shorts we found on islandimporter.com and boy were they happy they wore shorts. We got married in Destin, FL and it was 90 degrees that day! Save yourself from a lifetime of sweaty-groomsmen pictures and get those boys some shorts! 🙂 Congrats and enjoy your day!
