It's pretty common for groomsmen to pay for their own tux rentals, just like it's common for bridesmaids to buy their dresses.
I say yes...I don't think its too expensive to rent tuxes. If you can pay, then you should, but if financially you can't...I don't think its too much to ask them to pay
isn't that normal??!.. or maybe i don't know wedding etiquette, but all our groomsmen are renting their own tuxes.
It's EXTREMELY rare for the bride and groom to pay for the groomsmen's tuxedos. We had a MLB pitcher's wedding a couple weeks ago where they did that, but he could afford it!

We are on a HUGE budget, a lot of DIY and such. Is it OK to have your groomsmen rent their own tuxs?
