I see it at a lot of the weddings I go to. My girls are in Navy and the guys vests/ties will be an orange color. The color scheme for is ivory, navy and varying shades of orange. I think either color you mention would be fine it is all personal preference. For me, I didnt want it to matchy-matchy
what you could do is put a sash on the bridemaid and it would tie the whole thing together... or the bridemaids flowers could match it ... I think it will be fine even if you just leave it
Honestly I think it looks better when the GMs have diffeent colors than the BMs. As long as you interplay both colors into your overall color scheme, it will look fine. My BMs are going to be in tiffany and FI wants his GMs to be in navy. It was a compromise we both settled on since tiffany is my favorite color and navy is his favorite color!
My girls dresses are white with a large, pink floral print and the guys vests are navy blue with a multi-striped, blue tie.
If you look around, David's Bridal has a lot of mix and match where you can get one color dress with a different color sash and shoes. You can mix and match so many things to find what you want. I didn't go there, I went where I got my dress, but you can find tons of cute print dresses that you could play the colors off of that into what the groomsmen wear.
Our groomsmen's vest are not matching the bridesmaids. The bridesmaid will be in dark purple, and the men have black vests.
The wedding I went to about a month ago the groomsmen were in one wedding color and the bridesmaids were in the other.
I haven't seen a lot of pictures lately that had them in the same color.
My bridal party will be in the same color....but I'm only having a man of honor and to make him feel "manly" he'll wear what the best man is wearing.
I agree with the mander411- it looks better when they aren't all the same. I don't like the matchy-matchy look, it reminds me too much of high school prom.
Our girls are in mauve and the boys in blue vests. Their bouts will match the girls dresses, and the parasols & ribbon on the corsages for the girls will match the boys vests. I'm excited to mix it up a bit!!
I always recommend the groomsmen to go with silver/gray. My wedding colors are aqua and silver and I really don't think guys look good or appreciate being in any kind of pastel colors. :-)

Mine aren't matching either! My girls are in black and the guys are in a dark silver/platinum color.
My bridesmaids wore champagne pink and the groomsmen wore champagne. I know they still kinda match, but i liked that they weren't the exact same color.
We're doing this. Girls in lt. blue, boys in black tuxes with navy vests. The girls will have navy sashes if all goes as planned.
My girls are going to be in Watermelon Pink, and the guys are wearing beige suits with white vest and brown tie. My FI has put his foot down on the guys wearing matching ties!

Has anyone done or seen pictures of groomsmen wearing vests that don't match the bridesmaids dresses? The bridesmaids will probably be in navy, but I was thinking of doing the vests in either a green or a champagne color (the other colors in our palette). I need some inspiration to know that this would work!
